      Hi all ,

As everybody knows , Vray does not accept .mat matérials. So , I decided to adapt the material I have chosen to make it available in sketchup.
Big problem , I don't understand the tree of the /mat texture , where to place the map , the fresnel , etc.

So , if possible , I need someone who could help me. I got 3DS max , but I don't recongnize where to put the same parameters from max to sketchup's.

      Anybody could help ?
This is the joined material. All I need is 5-10 minutes of someone's time to explain me how to do. I see the parameters in the 3DS MAX material tree , but it doesn't seem to be the same in sketchup.

And I really need this material , it's for an interior design , and this pure metal is perfect for IPN beams , etc.

      Please , help me

      😞

Max has a much more robust material editor. This is a close match. Attached for all to enjoy!

Doesnt tile very well, but a little Photoshop can fix that.

mmmm...I'm sorry man , but your material doesn't load anymore. It loaded just one time , and now , I can't use it anymore. 'dont know why....

When I open the material , importing it to change the first one , it diseappears from the mat list...

              if you could help ...

Hi, is there any possibilities of explaining how you've made this material?

Hi , in my opinion , there is too much bump inside de file.
Still in my opinion , the tree of the material is a little bit more complicated that you did. It's a great work you made , but tue the result is not the same.

I made it by my own, trying to do my best.

                    that is yours :

Not so bad uh; I think just a little bit coarser than the original.

                    mine :

I tried to play just with specular channels , not bump. An Iron Sheet like that , pure, doesn't have any bump once it's treated. Just a "blury shine" over its surface.

But be careful , in the comments , on the texture I linked , in Vraymaterials.de , people talk about the too long time rendering the texture.

Making a material less complicated could be better.

@amelibob : I will post the detail of the material tree this evening , at the moment I don't have the time to.

                    And the result.

I will certainly paint the IPN beams in black , I think. But for now , the industrial visual of them is good to now.

Material Studio will not work with new materials made in 1.49.01
The Mat Studio is base on the old 1.05.30 version

Diffuse is the supplied jpeg material
Added a Reflection layer set to Fresnel IOR of 6
Added a filter map to reflection using same supplied jpeg material
set glossiness and highlight to .85
Set Subdivs in reflection to 35
Added a bump map using same supplied jpeg material

You can adjust the bump as needed. I used .7 assuming it was a rough scratched material, turn off if you want
Adjust the reflection glossiness if you want a duller material (.65 will be very dull)
If renders are slow, turn down the subdivs in reflection (35 is high but give a HQ result) You can get away with 18 sometimes.
