There are NDAs...
Even if any of us were beta-testers we couldn't tell you.
And even if we knew that there were to be a Sketchup v8 and if it were now in [or about to go into] beta-testing we couldn't tell you.
And even if any of this might even get the slightest mention at 'Basecamp' we could't tell you.
So there's "no news"... as they say.

Correct. V8 is a lot faster because it's written in c++.
