And by the fact that John Bacus lists SU 8 in his profile...
Anyway, Google never reveals any dates or definite time lines - not even to the Beta testing Team - so we never know when exactly a new version comes out.

And even if we did know (beta testers) we cannot say, as we signed NDA's.

So, to recap...
There are NDAs...
Even if any of us were beta-testers we couldn't tell you.
And even if we knew that there were to be a Sketchup v8 and if it were now in [or about to go into] beta-testing we couldn't tell you.
And even if any of this might even get the slightest mention at 'Basecamp' we could't tell you.
So there's "no news"... as they say.
So, please be patient and watch this space... -

Correct. V8 is a lot faster because it's written in c++.
