Sketchup 9

August of 2012.
I want to release version 9 before.
But if we have to wait 1 more year, I want sketchup 9 really have a lot of improvements and news -

They never even announce BaseCaps too early (which is even worse as many people would need to make preparations much earlier than the narrow time gap).
Then again, there are always rumours but we have not heard them yet...

maybe it's my bad habit, with design programs such as Autocad or corel or potoshop, they release a new version every year -
I have a question Jorge - why do you want a new release? Is there something that doesn't work for you? Sketchucation gives me something new every week to enjoy with the constant release of new or updated plugins.

Well, SU is definitely not one that is upgraded to a next main release every year. In fact, if there are no essentially new features, it would also be pointless. Software that is upgraded at a given time always, may not even bring as many new features but is some forced upgrade to get your money. There has been a maintenance release of SU 8 already and it brought important things like the fix for the always hated shadow bug. Or when SU 7.1 came out, the rendering engine was completely revamped. It could even have been called SU 8 at that time and Google could have got a lot of folks to pay the upgrade fee but they decided not to.
So I am sure that when SU 9 comes out, there will be significant novelties, not just some higher version number. I would expect some maintenance release of SU 8 before that however especially that with the new Lion OS for Mac, some things have been broken but of course it's up to Google if they fix this separately or together with a new, major release.

Sketchup is an excellent program for this reason is that it always requires a little more.
perhaps, organizer of plugins, better performance, drawing and modification tools more powerful, enhanced animation and scene management, enhancements to apply and manipulate materials, improvements and new features for dynamic components, improvements to the outline and so on .... .
sketchup much can be improved, adding new features.
Sketcheducation plugins are amazing. Improve and enhance the qualities of sketchup, but not usually have the support of money and lack a little development and integration, because programmers need to have other jobs to live.sorry for my English

You must take into consideration Google's business philosopshy towards SU. Its primary aim and ambition now satisfies the basic citeria it once set out to be.I suspect , since the basic criteria and need for SU has now been fully satsified, the next business model is to
take on Autodesk and the tablet market.We know Vray 2.0 for sketchup is in the works.
My bet is they are going to go for the "app" route and discard pro-su in the future. This will allow SU team to focus on multi-core and efficiency issues of high polygon models. -

As far as the Board of directors are concerned at Google, SU is at its peak of satisfying the general populace
of google earth users and science fair projects.However, the sheer number of SU users may force the BOD to change direction.
