I navigate sketchup like a videogame around WASD shortcuts:)

It's become a habit now and I have to set up my shortcuts like this on any machine I use. I set up my shortcuts around WASD when I was first learning sketchup years ago and now I find it really efficient. It seems off but for some reason it made sense at the time and I was wondering how other people have their shortcuts setup.
Basically I have W for orbit, A for pan, S for select, D for push pull, then all my draw stuff is around those keys. Q is draw line, E draw rectangle, R draw arc, T tapemeasure, F is offset, spacebar is move, Z is scale, and X is paintbucket. So now I fly though sketchup models like I'm playing a videogame and working in sketchup any other way is almost impossible for me at this point. I can't imagine using sketchup any other way, if you're bored give it a shot it feels really natural.

Does your mouse not have a middle mouse button?

Everything is on the mouse (a middle mouse button saves a lot of keyboard mashing for moving around in a scene) and using the ALT button, pretty much stock. I've modified a few keyboard shortcuts for my favorites like weld, intersect and the like, but that's about it. However, I've got to change "O" to offset, I never use orbit.

It does, I just set it up like this when I first was learning sketchup and I can't go back. Center clicking to orbit feels awkward for me, my middle finger is glued to W and now it feels really natural to go between W and A to toggle between pan and orbit and zoom through models. It's faster for me like this because then I keep my mouse fingers glued on the left and right click buttons. Things get weird for a minute after I've been in sketchup all day and have to go into autocad and try to navigate the same way...
I know it sounds strange and I know you can navigate other ways, I think I was playing a lot of counterstrike when I was learning sketchup or something and using sketchup any other way feels uncomfortable now.

Like Rich, I just use my center mouse wheel/button and Shift to navigate. That way I never drop the tool I'm currently using and I don't need to remember more keyboard shortcuts.

As far as navigation, I like to keep my left hand free to select tools for drawing and modeling and use my right hand primarily for navigation with my pinky on the SHIFT key for pan and release. Seems faster than trying to switch between tools and then execute them as the mouse is all in one motion. On the other hand, I don't play video games, so I don't have that type of muscle memory established.

I use the same, FDSA = Orbit, Pan, Zoom, Select None.
I never thought that the middle mouse button was very ergonomic, too small and had to make more pressure that the others to be pressed, as soon I start to feel some pain in my index and middle finger I change my hotkeys and never use it again. -

I've never been inclined to use any Hotkeys...can't be bothered to remember them. I've always used the scroll wheel on the mouse for navigation, with the middle finger of my left hand resting pretty much permanently on Shift...within easy reach of Ctrl and Alt if necessary.
That's one reason why I keep my toolbars reasonably spartan...I can normally reach the drawing tools with the cursor in less time than it would take me to move either hand from its usual position in order to hit a hotkey....unless I'm changing the resolution of a circle or curve as well.
All the beta team got Space Navigators one year. It's good, but I've never been able to use it as efficiently or accurately as a decent wheel mouse. Each to his own, I guess.
