When model Fliped it gets tilted..
-
Hi Mandar,
Something in there is not right. All the main lines of the wall seem to be on-axis, nevertheless, when one of the walls is flipped along the red axis it doesn't quite line up with its copy.
I can only assume that the axes of the model/group are somehow slightly off. But I tried resetting them and still got the error.
As the actual geometry seems to be ok...as far as the world axes go, the simplest way to fix it would be to simply explode the wall and regroup it. That seemed to work. -
This is interesting. It looks like the geometry for the wall was rotated slightly before the component was made. Then it was rotated back so the edges are aligned with the global axes but the this leaves the bounding box and the component axes misaligned. As Alan indicates, exploding and remaking the component is the easiest. If You wanted, though, you could open the component and rotate all the geometry to align with the component axes and then close the component and rotate that back to align with the axes. More steps but it would fix all instances

@ Alan: I tried your suggestion..it worked well..thanks..
@ dave: I gone through the file you have sent me..and i guess my geometry might have rotated.. but to be frank i never rotated the geometry i don't know what went wrong... anyway..it's done.. thanks for your help...

To fix your model, I just did what Alan suggested. Did you by any chance import a CAD file for this wall? Or did you trace an imported image? If either of these things were off axis, you'd have the same issue. It's kind of difficult to draw so slightly off axis because inferencing will try to draw on axis. A few lines, maybe but I wouldn't expect a whole wall with all those windows.
As you say, it's fixed now. Good luck on the rest of the model. Before posting the SKP, I purged the model. I didn't look at the other components but it might be worth taking the time to do so on yours to see if any others have the same issue.

Hello dave,
Will definitely follow your instructions..
now can you tel me how to use .mat files in sketch up.
I have huge collection of .mat files... i have made some of them & some of them are downloaded. now i want to use few of them in my sketch up model.. can you tell me how to do it.Regards,
Mandar M -
Mandar, I assume your .mat files are material files for Acad? I don't know of a direct way to convert them to the .skm files that SketchUp uses. Perhaps you can export them from your CAD application as some sort of image type like JPG or PNG. Then import those images into SketchUp using File>Import.

The .MAT file material format is specifically for 3d-Studio, it is not directly readable into a SKP friendly format.
However, there are Pro importers for several formats of other app's geometry with materials [including 3DS, OBJ etc] - so you can apply your various .MAT files' materials to some bits of geometry and thereafter export/import that into a SKP... Then when you have the new materials in the SKP you can save them as a collection into a library-folder, all as SKM format files to suit any SKP in the future... -

It's the callsic "clippng" issue:
http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=36261It happens (among others) when a model is extremely large. If you turn those camera FOV volumes in your layer dialog, you can see what is too big. Simply delete that layer - and choose to delete its content when the dialog pops up (if you do not need those volumes) and it gets fixed.

Thnaks Gai,
have you used IDX renditioner??
Pls see my another post regarding it..
