Trying to align components
-
I am trying to do a simple move to align two identical components, but I am getting strange behavior.
In the attached file, the components are side by side but one is higher than the other. I am trying to move that one (the right hand one in the scene)down to be exactly side by side with the the other. It will not move in that direction. Trying to lock blue axis move does not work. Then if I move the other component, they both move, although only the (left hand) component is selected.
Maybe something obvious is causing this behavior. I can't see it.

Huh?
It's strange
But copying the lower component and placing where 'odd' component is then deleting 'odd' component restores inferencing?
Either we're both blind or this is a really weird file...

It's because you've set the component to glue. Do you need the gluing characteristic?
-
Wait, that upper is glued. Edit it and look at it's axis.

See....stuck in the middle of everything

Yes they were to be glued to another surface--one which wasn't visible when I discovered this. So one is erroneously glued to the other. I just need to put the main surface back--or rather put them all in the same layer so this doesn't happen again. Thanks. It's sort of a doh thing--I forgot they were glued.

Did you find the solution ?

Yes that was the solution. And I am very grateful for the help, however embarrassed. The gluing function made it impossible to put the objects side by side. They were put in the model on a face. I don't know if one moved once the face's layer was off. But that is the problem, without that layer on they cannot be put in the side by side position.
Thanks to all,
Peter
