It will interesting to see how he blames the Republicans on this one. Or better yet Israel.

That's funny. The first vehicle seems to just make it over, and the long wheelbase of the Cadillac Limo bottoms out. Guess the limo got into the embassy from another gate.

..... and to make it worse, this happened USA Embassy! It seems that the very low reinforced undercarriage of 'the Beast' got stuck on the gate closing stops.

There is some interesting reading on 'the Beast' made by GM. For example it has its own supply of oxygen and is suppose to be totally sound proof. I imagine they heard the thud when they hit the gate stop and the front wheels did a tilt!

I wonder what crossed their minds when they heard this noise! Could it have been, 'now the Beast is going to be tested!'

This event was the reason OB was late for his pint at Moneygall which he polished off fully and his missus looks to have done likewise with a 'glass' of the 'black stuff'. Also he paid for his pint!

The pub owning pint puller was interviewed afterwards and told us that OB tossed up a 50 euro note on the counter for the drinks. When asked if he gave him his change, he said that the pint was free but he thought the €50 note was a tip ..... typical publican πŸ˜’

In all fairness, if it was the gate stop that snagged the car, it could have been that if the car was a few inches to the left or right, it would have cleared just fine.

... here is a longer video of the happening. http://youtu.be/XWxxuG2Ru9c The comments from the makers are 'priceless'. Now we may know why there was such a long delay in getting to Moneygall .... possibly something to do with 'White House boxers' according to one footpath commentator πŸ˜„

It was probably delivered by the US military and dropped on a pallet from the back of a C-130.

Was the busted wheel the reason that the car bottomed out, or did bottoming out break the wheel?

I was chatting with a friend today about this and we concluded that the car must have 'see sawed' on the ramp delivering much of the car's weight (4 tons+) went to the front wheels which obviously could not handle it and just kicked in / buckled!

I remembered reading about the Beast in Popular Mechanics some time back. It was Clinton's car, much the same I imagine. Here is the article / specs. http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/news/industry/1269716

Could that be it? You think they would test the car to jump small hills, etc. How about metal fatigue on a flawed bolt? But would a single bolt failure cause that the wheel assembly to break. Better add another billion to Solo's estimate for research:)

They need to airbag it or put some hydraulics on that suspension...that way they could raise the wheelbase. And if they wanted to show off, they could make it "hop"! πŸ˜†
