E-on-Lumenrt render for Sketchup
-
Hello to all
I would like to thank you first on this subject with all the information it .. I am interested in the LumenRT program, but I don't know more about it, or about all rendering plugin for SketchUp.
I use Cinema 4D, and plan to learn a second program, to improve some projects, and the Google SketchUp is one of my choices.
My question is focused on how we comparison between LumenRT and LightUp, Or they are completely different?
If they were in the same field .. What the best choice for purchase?
Any advices I will be thankful.

Hi,
I bought LumenRT a few days ago as it seems to complete my suite software...but could not success to make livecubes work on my QuadroFx 1800...all drivers are uptodate...it's a bit frustrating...
Any clue or advice ?
Edit : Is someone familiar with Eon website and forums, because I can't success to see their forums. I succeed to register my lumenRT licence (got the confirmation page), but after that, when I go to "my account" i got no product registered !! and consequently i cannot access forums or technical support...
If someone could help me ?!!

Does anyone know if LumenRT supports any type of artificial lighting? ....ies, point, spot, etc.? All examples on the site are sun lit only, so I'm curious.
-
From what I've seen and read until now, it's only the sun.
-
Just supports SU sun.
-
Just got Microsoft Kinect to navigate around my latest model in LumenRT with guestures only!
It works really well IMHO.
I shall test and maybe change some of the gestures.
Nice program! Well done e-onsoftware.
Has anyone else hacked the Kinect for the PC? -
Panga E-on forums are back up now.
You can also open a ticket to the feedback center.
Hope that helps.

Tx Cravatman, My lumenRt is now registered on the website. I'll open a ticket as soon as I can.

Other software companies allow you to download a demo to try before you buy, and you can also access the support forum so you can take a look at what kind of problems the users are facing. However, there's no demo for Lumen RT, and you can't even view its forum before buying it. Now that's a blind purchase...

Yes totally agree with you Ecuadorian 'Blind Purchase'. I purchased it and It's still not working with my graphic card (Quadro Fx 1800), even if e-on staff are very present to help me...I followed some advices found on some places (also here) and purchased it, and I hope it was not a mistake.
Normally I'm always waiting some feedback before buying a product, but I needed another tool for some of my works, so...I'll give feedback soon.
Cheers.

Are you 64 bit?
I'm running it on Windows 7 64bit SP1 with no issues. Can you run the LiveCubes they provide on the site?
-
Yes I'm on Win7 64 bits SP1. But All liveCubes are not working. I have an error message saying that my graphic card is not compatible even if my system fulfil the requirements.

How's the baking time, Rich, for a model with 600K + edges?

Well Ecuadorian, I admire your optimism. There is a problem with 600K models. There is of course warning of 500k+ edges, but it seems to me that something gives away with models of that size. I usually get SU splat. Hopefully this is just a problem that will be ironed out, but at the moment you have to cut some corners and optimize the model to the bones.

Yikes... All the house animations I make have more than 600K edges and 300+ textures. I've been using LightUp so far but I had hoped to improve them with Lumen, adding raytraced reflections and sharper sun shadows.
Looks like I'll have to wait.

I exported a model in the screenshot quite quickly (see also statistics) although the materials used are mostly low res, small tiles and I did not even tweak any of them (with special bumps or reflection).
Navigating in the exported live cube goes pretty well although not without minor lags. nvidia geforce 9600 GT (1Gb) on 32 bit system.

FYI: LightUp is adding planar reflections just like lumenRT uses.

Hi Panga,
Can you visit the e-on Tech support page and enter a bug report on your issue with the Quadro 1800 graphics card. LumenRT should work fine with this card. Here's the link:

where can I buy nice 3d trees? so I can use it with Lumen RT

Do you guys have something rendered in lumenrt you can show us? I would love to see something made by real users, not those demo stuff
