    Hi there,

I would like to create a hole in a wall of a building i have created in sketchup.
The walls of the building are made up of 9 different layers so are quite complex.
Ideally i would like to be able to resize the shape of the section plane tool so that it doesn't take into account the whole face of my building and only a specific area so that i can remove part of the wall to provide a view into my building with out loosing the whole wall section on that face of the building.

Does anyone have any advice on how i can do this?

    Thanks, Helsinki98

A SectionPlane always extends to the bounds of the context's entities.
So if the SectionPlane is placed directly into the model then that's all of the model's current entities.
However, if the SectionPlane is put inside a group [or component] it only then extends as far as that group's entities' bounds; it also only cuts the entities in that group's context and other things outside of the group are not cut.
So make some groups of just the things you want to section-cut, edit each group and add a SectionPlane, activate them inside the group[s] as desired.
With this method it means you can have several active SectionPlanes [but you can only have one per context!] 🤓
