View locking (patent pending) is a central feature of Tgi3D SU
What!? patenting code for SU?
Hmmm, I need to see some organic shapes, more complex than those examples before even considering it.
-
They do have a free version -- On their UV unwrap -- I like it, but there are certainly many instances where a more comprehensive solution is needed.
It is an amazing plugin if you spend lots of time modelling from photos -- in a way it's like Building Maker on steroids... but probably the killer feature for me is the "cross section" tool. Their "skin" function is also pretty nice.
Best,
Jason. -

Wonder if they really can do this...??
Not sure I like this and I sure don't like their prices...!! -
Price is a stumbling block for me too! But how much time would a tool of this flexibility save?

I've been using SU for about 4+ years now and I must admit that it's very rare that I've needed some special tools for UV-mapping...
Whaats UVTools v0.1 have helped me accomplish most of what have been needed...
I acknowledge that price isn't everything and if I believe it will save me enough time (= money) then I'd happily pay...
In this case I really doubt it...
For me such a tool should be priced between 20,00-50,00 USD - max...What I don't like is the line regarding the pending patent...
(without wanting to draw any parallel, it somehow reminds me of the patent on the shadow thing in SU, which means that the clipping-bug when shadows are turned on, can't be solved...) -
Hm, I find this plugin a tad pricey too. Besides, Whaat's UVTools 0.2 Pro works great.
-
I want it... I just can't afford it.
-
Here's some quick tests....
Here's the file to take a look...
TGI3d_Example_1.skpAnother example with a more organic shape...

Looks good. I oughta try the demo. Here's my try with Whaat's plugin.

What app you using for the mapping? I liked UV Tool Pro but couldn't get to grip with Roagkill for organic shapes.
They're identical BTW
-

Get the 30 day trial, you'll see why it's worth the investment

I used Modo 401 (demo). Got this for christmas: http://source3d.net/martinkrol.htm. Interesting stuff!

And this is with ThomThom's UV Toolkit 2 (a sandbox mesh distorted with his Vertex Edit plugin but can be anything...)
-
What does that one do, keep the UV's as the model is being distorted?
-
Why are you modelling butts? Thought you modelled things from the past not thongs at the rear!

-
Thanks, will do.
Edit: sweet!
