Sketchup Viewer 8?
-
Mmm...let's hope google update to an SU 8 viewer soon, because as you said it's still SU 7.1 with that link.
FWIW this is the page I go to for the viewer, but it's the same result as your link.
http://sketchup.google.com/intl/en/download/gsuviewer.htmlI prefer clients to use the viewer because the tool set is quicker for them to get used to.
Hopefully Google will get around to it soon. Not a big task surely? -
Any Googlers out there? Is the SU Viewer going to be updated?

Indeed, Google Sketchup Viewer 8 expected... right now I had a bad surprise when I installed it and was version 7.1.
Maybe somebody from Google is reading this and...

Instead of SketchUp Reader, it would be cool to have the model password protected and open read-only in SketchUp free.

Yeah right... and to stay and explain to every client to not be afraid of buttons

Sketchup viewer is good for st*pid clients... just install and use Orbit and Pan
A kind of portable Sketchup Viewer would be even better, so the client doesn't have to install anything... or, to go on with my fantasy: a built-in file (sort of export from sketchup and - voila !) viewer

Yes, indeed. A viewer and file combination that cannot be disassembled but can be run on any computer (regardless of OS - maybe even linux

)Can you do some magic, so a guy from Google to "accidentally" read this topic?
.. who knows what might happen next

I have accidentally sent a link to this topic to some Googlers already. Just hang on.

)I doubt that Google will ever do something like that. More, they doubt too

βDesktop Linux users should be able to run a native port of SketchUp on their distro of choice.β
We hear this request all the time, but realistically weβre not likely to ever make a version of SketchUp that runs as a native client application on Linux. However, SketchUp can be run effectively on Linux using Wine, and weβre keen to improve that where it is practical to do so.]
Thanks for your SketchUp Ideas
