Can't get to solid inspector work in Pro8 ???

.rbz plugins do work ... . rb plugins don't ??

      What exactly "isn't working"?
Did you install the rb file correctly?
Here's an article on how to install plugins: http://www.thomthom.net/thoughts/2012/01/installing-plugins-for-google-sketchup/

Outstanding tool . It took a little bit to figure out how to install on my MAC. What i found to be the problem was i did not have TT_Lib2 - 2.6.0.zip downloaded in my plugin folder once i loaded it i then loaded the solid inspector and it works great.

                Hello All

I downloaded the Solid Inspector plugin on my Mac and it wasn't loading.. After some looking around I realized that I had put the plugin here:
                /Applications/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp.app/Contents/Plugins

Where it should have been put here:
                /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp/plugins/

                Now it's working fine.

Hopefully that help some of the Mac users out there who are having issues..

                Antony

This tool works great if you are trying to fix it yourself... I found this other plugin in the ruby library depot that not only identifies the problems, but corrects them too!

                  worked for me first try...

                      Hi,
I confirm the problem comes from the wine install somehow. I install the plugin on a mac the same way as with the linux and it works perfectly.
I will ask for some help in the wine community.

Did you get anywhere? I'm getting similar trouble running it in SU8 under Crossover (the commercialized Wine). On startup, I get a dialog titled "Load Errors", saying:

                      Error Loading File tt_solid_inspector.rb
                      uninitialized constant TT::System

When I press OK, the entire SU viewport goes black. I did try the (possibly outdated) advice to run dos2unix on the *.rb files of the plugin, but that doesn't help--in fact, it causes SU to report a BugSplat after I press OK on the Load Errors dialog.

I have a mac osx 10.6.8 running Snow Leopard. I have Dropped the downloaded Solid Inspector ruby scripts into HD/Library/Application Support/Google Sketchup 8/Plugins

When I restart sketchup 8 I get This message:

                                Error Loading File tt_solid_inspector.rb
no such file to load -- TT_Lib2/core.rb

Can somebody tell me how to install Solid Inspector into my Mac?

                                Thank you,
                                Sean

What is Solid Inspector telling me?

Sorry I am new to SketchUp but really having problems with making Solids.

                                    http://gettheworkdone.net/images/sketchup/SolidTools1.png

What do I do to fix the problems?

What specifically do the colors represent?

                                    Thanks,
                                    Ralph

The red colour is just indicating the current issue - you can cycle through the different issues using tab. The camera should zoom to the problem area.

The highlighed areas either means there is a hole or internal faces. You need to correct these before the object can be considered a solid.

You can zoom INTO the object and see the problems defined in red or orange. It really does not matter which you tackle first. Put your cursor on one item and deselect the group/comp. Then select again and edit. The cursor is on the problem. 99% all you have to do is delete it.

You can also change to XRAY view (Wireframe will not show problem faces) In XRAY you can move the cursor right onto the problem from outside the object, then edit it.

Sometimes you may have a circle that seems to be well outside the object. SI found a line fragment within the groups bounding box but totally outside the object. Pan and zoom such that the circle is seen against BLANK background, ie open sky or ground. Place the cursor in the circle, then deselect and edit again. Make a sweeping right to left selection to catch the offender and delete.

Note: You cannot edit the object while SI is active. You cannot activate SI while in edit mode.

There is also a companion pluggin, Solid Solver that "fixes" these kinds of errors, BUT, it can also destroy (undoable, almost always) an object that has a lot of problems.

I once had an object that started with about 600 lines and ended up with about 30 when Solver finally got done, so it is a good idea to SAVE before trying to Solve a complex mess.

I also have had objects that were deemed by Solver as "Can NEVER be made solid" fixed with just a few missing lines added.
