Ive been struggling for a while to work out how to fill in that arch at the top. Without success, could anyone help me out or lead me to somewhere that can?

      Thanks a lot guys

        Hi,

Kinda hard to see what exactly you need to fill?

Could you upload model with your next post?

          ok.
Based on what I think I see, my first reaction would be to:

          1. draw a line from the base of the triangle I see poking up, and extend the line from the base of the triangle at the straight chord over to a point on the curve. This should give you a face coplanar with the arc and the chord.
          2. hover over this new face, press the C key to call up Circle, (or use the circle icon in the tools menu) click in the middle of the new triangle face and extend it out till the diameter is greater than the entire arc and click.
3.Inspect it to be sure that the circle is coplanar with your arc and chord.
4.If the circle has a face and your arc and chord seem to be on the circle, do a selection set of the circle and your chord and arc.
          3. Right click, select Intersect> intersect selected.
          4. Hopefully, the chord and arc now have faces, and you can erase the unneeded portion of the circle you just drew.

          I hope this is helpful.
EDIT: Since you haven't replied, yet, I thought I would add that this is not a stupid question. I believe there are very few, if not zero, stupid questions in a learning environment. My attempt to help, however, might not be so bright. 😄
I noticed the possible misalignment of the rectangular plane at the bottom of the image. Would this maybe contribute to the closure problem?

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

There could be a couple of really exciting and cool solutions IMO. Next time attach the model, too and wait - as you can learn a lot from the different solutions. 😉
I would have used the PushPull > Rotate > Scale tools for instance (or hand stitch those edges in about 10-15 seconds by hand)

                Gai...

Well ive sorted the problem now, thanks for the advice guys, i have a new problem however and im sure the answer is very simple.

I am trying to fill a face with glass but only one of the sides is coming up translucent, the otherside is not see through, this creates problems with the rendering.....example

                  translucent side:

                  http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/1875/picture3pz.png

                  non-translucent side:

                  http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/9135/picture4x.png

Anyone know how to correct this? ie...make both sides see through

You have to apply the translucent material to both sides of the face to see through it from either side.

                    Chris
