SketchUvision Competition for Sketchup Pro users

Hey All
Incase any of your have had problems getting going with ICEvision, I have attached this handy help sheet!
-
So how is everybody doing? anybody need any help with anything? I'd be more than happy to give you a hand over an online meeting room if you are stuck, let me know!
-
Well. . . I tried.
After overcoming the conflict with COMODO and several attempts to upload, I find it's not possible to upload the model I want to use. I am able to upload small to medium models, but had no interest in sharing those.
ICEvision interface would consistently hang at around 80-90% at the 'processing geometry' stage.
My attempt was to be North Carolina State University's Memorial Bell Tower. I and fellow co-workers had the opportunity to field measure the entire tower . . outside and inside as well as the internal components. The model uses almost no textures. Virtually every surface with a differential surface offset of 1/4" or more is modeled. This appears beyond the capability of the importer.
So. . .as I said, I tried, and best of luck to those who were successful with the software.
-
hey! That model looks fantastic!! I'm sorry you are having problems in the uploading stage. sounds like more firewall issues, I will get our techs to look into it right away and see if we have a solution for you!
In the mean time, how about sending it to me at anolloth@ice-edge.com and I'll get this into ICEvision for you, it would be a shame not to have it entered! This offer extends to everyone!
-
oh, and try taking shading off and re-publish. Larger models sometimes take a little time but bare with it, it will come through
Still feel free to send me the file! We will capture it in one way or the other! -
I have no FW running when I attempt to run the procedure.
anolloth@ice-edge.com wants a password.
I've tried about 4 times, everything goes fine till the end of 'processing geometry'. I've given it from 20 to 45 minutes.
-
A password, I must be special I better get that looked at!
We use http://www.yousendit.com to forward files. Maybe try that. It has a free sharing box on the left so there is no need to sign up.
I'm sorry again for the problems, We will get it resolved!
-
Hey Guys,
I understand the entries for the competition or the winner's on the website were to be announced on April 30th. I can't seem to find the entries or the winners. Looked all over.
Can you link the page?

Hey!
Thanks for the message! Really sorry for the delay. We have had some massive snow storms in Calgary so our servers have been up and down all week.
I'm working on it right now, It will be posted today! watch this space!

Hey Everybody!
So we are just waiting for the rest of the site to be updated. Sorry again for the delay! The winners have been decided and I thought I'd announce them over here instead
We didn't get the response we would have hoped for, so we only have 3 of the prizes up for grabs, the 4th prize will used in a spin off competition you will receive information about shortly!
Drum roll..
1st Prize goes to
D12dozr with this fantastic ICEvision!
http://icevisioncloud.com/viewer.jsf?mkey=c63806b6a19b3bb359d49e03f1cdd920
and a very close 2nd Prize goes to
M.YAQOUB with another fantastic ICEvision!
http://icevisioncloud.com/viewer.jsf?mkey=711070c844dc4f865510d15c3d018c0d
and the 3rd prize is a very honorable mention.
Cyberdactyl created such an awesome model in sketchup, that 32bit ICEvision couldn't handle its greatness! Our tech guys here have now managed to get it into ICEvision, but is too big for you to have a true ICEvision experience so we will create a video instead! We believe that is worthy of a prize
If you could email me (anolloth@ice-edge.com) your address details, I will get the prizes shipped too you asap!
Congratulations all and thank you to everybody who signed up!! Everybody who signed up will have another chance to win a mouse. Watch this space!

Wow, thank you Andy! I am truly honored and grateful.
Here is a link to the tour if anyone wants to see it. I am also going to make the tour into a Youtube video because some of my friends had trouble viewing it...hopefully in the next few days.
Andy, re the next competition, I think it would be helpful to have a detailed tutorial (preferably video, otherwise PDF) available explaining exactly how to make the tour. Even though it was really easy, there were some things I discovered that would have made the process easier had I known about them from the start. Also, have you thought about asking Google to post about it on the Sketchupdateblog?
Thanks again Andy, Mike and all of the judges, and call on me if you want ideas for a tutorial!!
P.S. Thanks for the screenies, Mike
edit: oops, didn't see Andy posted the link to the tour already
-
Hi all,
Congrats to the winners! They are really nice indded.
Marcus, will you please, post your video url here once you finished the tour? I'd like to include it to The Daily CatchUp article (if you don't mind).
-
Thanks Rich and Gaieus. I don't mind at all Gai, will do.
I really like how vendors are working with Sketchucation to inform us of their products, it is so beneficial for them and us members alike. Thanks SCF management!!
-
All the entries look great!
Thanks for the mention.
-
Here is a video I made of my ICEvision tour, the last picture is a Twilight render. The quality is far less than the original after a screen capture with CamStudio and uploading to YouTube
Thanks to Earthmover for the shrubs and flowers!
Here is a link if you can't see the embedded video.

I want to again thank ICEvision and Sketchucation for the opportunity to participate in the contest and use their software. I did have good success with smaller models, and I think it will be a nice offering to design firms and organizations to enhance their ideas to clients and/or contractors.
Oh yea, and I LOVE the fidelity of the Space Navigator. I'm still getting accustomed to it. So far I've only experimented in Google Earth and Sketchup, but I already see it will offer an excellent alternate input device. And it looks great in the office with that warm blue ring!
-
congratulation you won sketchuvision
but I came 2nd place but your design was awesome
thanks M.YAQOUB
-
Thank you to all of you who gave it a go! It's a fun tool and its getting better by the day!
Marcus - Thank you very much for posting the video! It looks great as always and congratulations again for the awesome ICEvision you submitted. We are all looking forward to seeing alot more!
Cyberdactyl - Thank you for the kind words and posting that great image! I have the same mouse and it really does give my desk a new lease of life. I will be sending your comments to the head of 3Dconnexions if you dont mind? Those guys and girls are sketchup fans and would love to see that somebody is enjoying the product.
koz786 - Your entry was great, so thank you again! I hope you enjoy your mouse! let us all know what you think and please send some more ICEvisions!
If anybody would like to give ICEvision a go for a month, let me know! We are always looking for feedback on how we can make it better.
Thank you again! I'm hoping to be back on tomorrow with some great news!
