If anyone else has any problems, be sure to post them!
I'll be back shortly.

Hey
So here is a solution to this problem. Infact, this website can explain it alot more clearly than I can over the forum
http://www.shankh.com/2008/12/14/java-web-start-jnlp-splash-recv-failed/
I hope this works for you, please let me know if you still have problems!
Thanks
Andy

Thanks, it was indeed COMODO's firewall blocking JAVA's javaws.exe.
What had me befuddled is even with COMODO disabled OR having javaws.exe as a trusted executable, it STILL conflicted.
I uninstalled COMODO and everything worked fine.
Now I will check if I re-install COMODO and leave it in learning mode from the moment it's installed and then run ICE to see if I still have the issue.
-
thats great news! I'm glad its all up and running now!
I created a little Harry Potter-themed game to help users navigate through ICEvision. If you want to take a break from creating your awesome models, have a go at this!
Once its loaded, press the play button for instructions

Hey All
Incase any of your have had problems getting going with ICEvision, I have attached this handy help sheet!
-
So how is everybody doing? anybody need any help with anything? I'd be more than happy to give you a hand over an online meeting room if you are stuck, let me know!
-
Well. . . I tried.
After overcoming the conflict with COMODO and several attempts to upload, I find it's not possible to upload the model I want to use. I am able to upload small to medium models, but had no interest in sharing those.
ICEvision interface would consistently hang at around 80-90% at the 'processing geometry' stage.
My attempt was to be North Carolina State University's Memorial Bell Tower. I and fellow co-workers had the opportunity to field measure the entire tower . . outside and inside as well as the internal components. The model uses almost no textures. Virtually every surface with a differential surface offset of 1/4" or more is modeled. This appears beyond the capability of the importer.
So. . .as I said, I tried, and best of luck to those who were successful with the software.
-
hey! That model looks fantastic!! I'm sorry you are having problems in the uploading stage. sounds like more firewall issues, I will get our techs to look into it right away and see if we have a solution for you!
In the mean time, how about sending it to me at anolloth@ice-edge.com and I'll get this into ICEvision for you, it would be a shame not to have it entered! This offer extends to everyone!
-
oh, and try taking shading off and re-publish. Larger models sometimes take a little time but bare with it, it will come through
Still feel free to send me the file! We will capture it in one way or the other! -
I have no FW running when I attempt to run the procedure.
anolloth@ice-edge.com wants a password.
I've tried about 4 times, everything goes fine till the end of 'processing geometry'. I've given it from 20 to 45 minutes.
-
A password, I must be special I better get that looked at!
We use http://www.yousendit.com to forward files. Maybe try that. It has a free sharing box on the left so there is no need to sign up.
I'm sorry again for the problems, We will get it resolved!
-

Hey Everybody!
So we are just waiting for the rest of the site to be updated. Sorry again for the delay! The winners have been decided and I thought I'd announce them over here instead
We didn't get the response we would have hoped for, so we only have 3 of the prizes up for grabs, the 4th prize will used in a spin off competition you will receive information about shortly!
Drum roll..
1st Prize goes to
D12dozr with this fantastic ICEvision!

Cyberdactyl created such an awesome model in sketchup, that 32bit ICEvision couldn't handle its greatness! Our tech guys here have now managed to get it into ICEvision, but is too big for you to have a true ICEvision experience so we will create a video instead! We believe that is worthy of a prize

Congratulations all and thank you to everybody who signed up!! Everybody who signed up will have another chance to win a mouse. Watch this space!

Wow, thank you Andy! I am truly honored and grateful.
Here is a link to the tour if anyone wants to see it. I am also going to make the tour into a Youtube video because some of my friends had trouble viewing it...hopefully in the next few days.
Andy, re the next competition, I think it would be helpful to have a detailed tutorial (preferably video, otherwise PDF) available explaining exactly how to make the tour. Even though it was really easy, there were some things I discovered that would have made the process easier had I known about them from the start. Also, have you thought about asking Google to post about it on the Sketchupdateblog?
Thanks again Andy, Mike and all of the judges, and call on me if you want ideas for a tutorial!!
P.S. Thanks for the screenies, Mike
edit: oops, didn't see Andy posted the link to the tour already
-
Hi all,
Congrats to the winners! They are really nice indded.
Marcus, will you please, post your video url here once you finished the tour? I'd like to include it to The Daily CatchUp article (if you don't mind).
-
Thanks Rich and Gaieus. I don't mind at all Gai, will do.
I really like how vendors are working with Sketchucation to inform us of their products, it is so beneficial for them and us members alike. Thanks SCF management!!
