I am wondering if anyone can direct me to an instruction on how
      to combine the process of...
selecting a face, right click, select bounding edges, right click, make group
into either or a button, or a shortcut key.

What I would like to do is..Select a face, hit a button & be done.

Maybe there is already a shortcut out there. I am basically just a user,
and don't look under the hood very often so I usually rely on the likes
of TIG or others for this kind of stuff.
If there is a tutorial for doing what I am asking, and someone has not already done it
I will give it a shot myself.

      TIA

A Single click selects the single picked object.
A Double-click selects it and its immediate connected geometry - e.g. a face and its edges.
A Treble-click selects it and all that's connected to it.

            Then use a shortcut key.
'G' is the standard for 'Component' [? one of Google's less good ideas] but I reset it and use it as Group and then use B[lock] <=> Component - == my ACAD history...

To group selected faces you don't even need to select their edges the API does it for you... but note that unfaced edges get moved into the group, whereas edges with non-selected faces are cloned into the group and also remain in the model...

For the shortcut let's say you want shift_G - to set it you select a face etc and then Menu > Window > Preference > Shortcuts, filter for 'Group' - enter shift+G and set it... OK: thereafter whatever you have currently selected will be grouped when you press shift-G...

Using good shortcuts makes life so much easier - e.g. make shortcuts to Reverse AND Orient [faces] - you need to have face selected before opening Preferences so that the filter will find the commands as they are context specific...
