New VRAY for SU bugsplat
-
Thanks Thomthom. I've meanwhile taken this problem to the asgvis forums, where I find I'm not the only one having it. It doesn't happen with every model, but it does with any big one. New vray doesn't seem able to handle these, while old vray could. No solution so far, and I can't help but feel deeply annoyed that such expensive software has been put on the marked with such serious issues remaining...

Cheer up!..... This is a formula AutoDesk has used with its AutoCad Users for years. The Users become the Beta testers for the software developer.
Sad for The users, but a very good for the Software developer, and a good way to build a software company. Till hopefully Autodesk buys them out. -
Out of about a couple of hundred beta users - less than ten was active. Felt pretty lonely in the beta forum.

I see I didn't make my self clear:
The User and the beta tester are not the same persons.
The User is one that has already paid for the software, with the expectation of using software with the major bugs removed. What I see here is the SketchUcation Forum supporting a sub-forum dedicated to exposing Vray Bugs.Which is precisely the way AutoDesk has treated its users. I really feel sorry for Users being treated in that fashion. Nevertheless thomthom you are doing a great job.
my 2 cents -
Here's a post from ASGVis on the current situation: http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=7509.msg43674#msg43674

that's odd - because they really wanted more active testers.

Me too. Never heard a word from them.

When I started with Maxwell the same thing happened. Its was buggy as hell, unworkable really. But times have changed after lots of work by NL and now Maxwell does render very well, but you still have to know what you are doing.
Since I have already been there with Maxwell I would offer my license (VfSU for Mac) to anyone interested for 450 USD. Its not that I don't think Vray isn't worth it. I already got some nice renders done with it even in the short time I used it. But to keep up with two high-end renderers for SU is just a bit too much.
If you are interested you can send me a personal message.

If I try to disable Vray I don't see Vray in the preferences to be switched off. Any idea ?

You cannot sell your license.

I think it was a first come first serve. Though, seeing how well (not) that went - I think handpicking from the community would have been better.

Why would anyone assume that this forum was some sort of bug reporting forum?... Sketchucation has NOTHING to do with ASGvis at all, other than the fact that some users on here use ASGvis's product. Please tell ASGvis about bugs, not Sketchucation. I mean it's fine to talk about bugs and experiences, so you can all grow and improve your ability to use the product, but if you say "this is broken" on here... you're talking to nobody...
Anyway, Martin's issues should be resolved with this upcoming patch, I've done some tests with the scene Martinph was having issues with. The good news is that now the scene will start to render. The bad news is that we run out of ram and crash ... Oh how I wish we wouldn't hit that 2gb wall so hard. Still awaiting a DR fix, so I haven't been able to test to see if that will help.

I sent an email to this forums staff a while ago, about this same subject.
Why is there a Vray sub-forum at SketchUcation.
I never got a reply from the staff. Although thomthom seems to have taken it upon himself to answer most of the questions raised here. For which he should be rightfully acknowledged. Overall I think its more important to get the BUGS out of SketchUp, then to concentrate on 3rd party addon problems.my 2 cents!

There was a growing number of V-Ray questions appearing in the forum, so it was decided to make a sub-forum to group them.
