Anyone know the reasoning for this non-sense? Please enlighten me. We have to finish these renders for a client and start animations pronto. So any insight will help! Thanks again for looking.

p.s. All the lights are objects with emissive properties. Can lights have a chrome like material inside the can and my "artichoke" lamp was grouped, so it did not show above the table. I thought that if I unchecked "trace reflections" under the Chrome material it would help, but does not cure the problem.

      Thanks!

i'm not an expert with vray by any means, but i've experienced similar artifact problems using emissive materials as light sources. why don't you just use a vray light for each can and scratch the emissive material all together?

Emission materials are not supposed to be used as main light source. Do you still get these artefacts if you hide the objects with emissive materials?

Hey Thom, I'm not trying to use emissive objects as light sources, but simply for the visual effect. I tried rendering without the emissive objects and the blotchy effect did not occur. What I'm trying to figure out is if this is coming from the emissive object or because of my reflective materials close by the emissive object.

Thanks everyone, I ended up using the omni spot technique talked about on ASGVis forums. The blotchiness was, once again, caused by low subdvsns and samples in the irradiance map.

Still more tweaking needed but heading in the right direction.

              HAPPY NEW YEAR!

.85.... that's the best setting right?
