Major problems with Layers and Podium.
-
Here is my problem, I have a huge model file that is very detailed so as usual im constructing it using layers so I can work on it quickly. However when I try to do a quick render it wont render the whole model. Ive racked my brain and cant think what it is. As you can see it renders one layer and then a small part of another layer??!?!?!?
The only solution I can think of is to commit all the layers into one but this isnt an option as the model is only about 20% complete and getting bigger every day.
I also have this problem when exporting to kerktheyra. It only exports the part of the model visible in the podium render. Please if anybody can help me reply asap as I usually do test renders to check everything is going ok.
Thanks

I had a similar problem in Kerky.. try selecting all the model then rendering. that worked for me....

Negative. Tried that and even though in podium it has registered that 7 groups are selected it wont render them. Also no luck exporting to kerk using this method.

liam,
have you posted this problem at the podium forum? it is more likely that you will get help there than here by the simple fact that most podium users discuss their problems there and its developers are there. -
I can see in your layers window that Layer 0 is turned off. What happens frequently is people have a nested component or group i.e. the component is in Layer 1 and the nested group is in Layer 0. Layer 1 is on but layer 0 is off so the group is hidden.

I would have posted it in the podium forum but I knew it was a SU problem as it wasnt exporting to kerk either.
Got it! Even though the default layer 0 was empty of geometry in needed to be 'visible' in order to render all the other layers! Thanks.
This was also the problem when exporting to kerk!

damn. so thats what I did when I had those problems as well...

yeah looks like, its so simple as well almost feel stupid for not thinking of it!

When working in layers be sure that all of your groups and the faces in those groups are on the layer you want them on. This happens to me all of the time.

As a rul - I never change the current layer to other than layer0. That way I ensure that when I draw lines and faces they are all on layer0. And then I change the layer of groups/components on a per instance basis.
