Alternative Christmas Songs suggestions?
-
I've just started my yearly attempt to update my mp3 collection with some alternative, ironic, bitter or funny alternatives to the usual christmas songs. I thought this could be a good thread, know any good alternatives to White Christmas?
-
There was that Top 10 Christmas Songs You Won't Hear On The Radio album, but some songs may sound quite offensive.
As for the good alternatives - White Christmas by The Impossibles IMO. -
A Christmas Song by Jethro Tull
-
Then there is always 'Kevin (Bloody) Wilson'.
Best heard with earphones, as it's bloody filthy, but funny as hell.

The Bells of Dublin by the Chieftains is a nice departure. Yes it has a few traditional Christmas tunes but I think it is safe to say that The Wren and St. Stephen's Day Murders are not.
Check it out.http://www.thechieftains.com/discography/disc_bellsofdublin.asp

Raphael (in Spanish): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQbMT7FbEsk A spanish version of an english Christmas song. Raphael in Spain is famous for being very "exagerated" when he sings. Not anything special with this song, but is in spanish

For maudlin holiday music, my bet is on:

Heavy drinking, bad teeth

There is/was an album called 'Twisted christmas' (I think). Tracks incude(d) 'grandma got run over by a reindeer' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9jmr0MgFKU) and 'walking round in womens underwear' (http://acme.com/jef/netgems/womens_underwear.html or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foybsDsn5hk)

Try with Sufjan Stevens's "Songs for Christmas". It's a great five cds box, from 2001 to 2006, edited in 2006.

Lyrics from Kevin (Bloody) Wilson

He is not one of our proud exports, Peter...
-
Well, then. How about AC/DC - Mistress For Christmas?
-
"The Fairy Bum Tree Song" - being played on our local radio. Have not found a download for it yet. Damned funny, but probably many would find it offensive ...
