      Hi there,

I'm trying to make a round horn using a cone, arc and the Shape Bender plug-in. I've come quite far, but I'm not there yet. The file I've attached will show how far I've gotten. Any advice on this? Thanks!

What kind of horn are you trying to create? A rhino horn, or a trumpet like horn? πŸ˜„

Looks like you almost have a great rhino horn going there.

Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

Better to use FredoScale radial bend

            Hi, folks!
What are the advantages of these tools over 2 Faces + Path?
            Thanks in advance.

They each do differnr things. Fredoscale is an entire suite of tools that include sheer, twist, taper, etc. It's a great tool for changing the shape of objects.

I wrote shape bender to help bend shapes to match a desired bend. So if you have a curvy wall and want to apply 3d text to it (like a string of words) and you want them to bend to follow the curvature of the wall, then use shape bender. That is precisely what I had in mind when I wrote it. But it is much more versatile than just that too though.

I would recommend downloading and playing with both of those plugins.

                Thanks for your reply, Chris.
Your Shape Bender and Fredo6Β΄s FredoScale have already saved me lots of frustration. Needless to mention the effort and hard work you folks put into it, providing us with extra functionality in SU.
I was just referring to this particular "horn" case and possible differences in bending a cone vs. making a curvy horn from the start.
If there are any, of course.
                Thanks again.

Right...I've tried using Radial Bend by Fredo, and I'm almost there, except for 1 problem...after the bending holes appear in the horn! Any suggestions?

                    Thanks!

Depending on how much you want to bend the shape, one suggestion would be to use Spiralizer and import the resulting dxf. That's its sole function...to bend horn shapes into a tight a spiral as you want.

First, there is a plugin to make shapes like cone, torus and etc.

i don't know if this will help, but i bent a house and got the same (and extra) problems. after exploding everything (bomb all) and making it a group again, it worked without any trouble.

Playing with the settings seems to do the trick! Thanks to all for the help!

                            Cheers

Alternatively for simpler shapes like a horn try Extrude Edges by Edges...Horn_EEbyRails.pngHorn_EEbyRails.skp
