Chess Anyone?

Thanks Boo.

Nice model (would be interesting in which way it would change your play), great render. Twilight amazes me with every new picture I see.
-
I did this Wobble Chess set a while back. I think it likes Twilight
-
Very cool, Eric. Great job both modelling and rendering!
I can imagine it's a good set for shiops and aeroplanes as the figures can fall off harder.
-
Thats an excellent render
There's one mistake in this model though, you know what it is? -
The board is inverted. H1 square has to be white.
-
It was obvious massimo. So e2-e4 ...
-
Sure it was...e7-e5
-
Oops.
-
OK this thread is not about chess, maybe a Ruy Lopez was coming (I play this better as black). KT f3
Boofredlay you should render these positions. Is twilight fast enough? -
Ha ha. It may be but I am not

That is terrific. But Massimo is right. . .lower right H-1 should be white. but that is fussing. The design is awesome.
It reminds me of Man Ray's 1926 chess set in the MoMA.

...Nc6. Be careful, I'm an expert of the Marshall gambit (especially the Steiner variation) in the Ruy Lopez...

Ok, draw?

B b5... OK draw.

Hey, Eric. If you replace the board with a flat one, you could render an animation of a Chess opening with cmd's Mover.rb.

No, no, thats not funny, we need this particular board, its (as our friend oli uses to say) its sexy. We just need Boofredlay to render positions. "chess anyone" is the name of this thread. It will take a month but this is not a problem for experienced players like massimo and me. A ray traced chess game...

Better yet, how about I post up a chess model (I can't do the Wobble because it is FF property) and you can download it, make your move then render it with whatever you want. Even straight SU output. The trick is you have to pick a side and never play for the other.
The other chess board I did here at the beginning of the tread is free and clear. I have others I want to model as well... Give me a day or so and I will have one up.

Eric,
The wobble board is great (other than the obvious). One thing that stands out is the repeating table wood texture. With such a close shot a higher res image is really needed. Maybe a bit of bump as well but this is ultra critical
Nice work!

This is a whole chess game (Kramnik-Topalov, 2003 blindfold) in a single image! I just love it. You can read about it here.
