In the mood

Frivolous topic, but anyway...
When you model/render/design what type of music do you listen to? (assuming you listen to music while working)
-
whatever im in too at the time really, currently a rather demented mixture of calvin harris, florence + machine and muse.
-
Normally I don't listen to music while working, but when I do, I go to http://www.sky.fm, and just keep switching from channel to channel until I find something I like. It works nice with Winamp and VLC.
They have Classical music, Oldies, 70s, Bossa Nova, Classic Rock, Soundtracks, you name it. They have a sister site just for Electronic Music, too: http://www.di.fm/
I got bored of listening to my collection, so I prefer to tune to the above mentioned web radio networks.
-
I'm a big fan of Jack Johnson and Fleet Foxes at the moment but been giving the Spotify and @Lastfm thing a try too. I also like listening to conversations, people talking about anything will do, so I listen to Radio 4 or podcasts.
-
Pretty eclectic when I do listen. I love non vocal jazz, modern cello pieces, 10 century choral music, Annie DiFranco,Jane Sibery......
-
Bob Marley is my preferred weapon of choice, failing that Newton Faulker.
What about you Pete?
-
Bonobo. Chillout with enough beat to keep you going.
-
Lately it has been Britt Nicole, Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana). But that is only because it is radiating from my daughter's room next door.
Right now I am listening to Miles Davis because I am at the office where it is quiet

Totally depends on my mood, today it's a feel-good Swedish band Billie the Vision and the Dancers, yesterday it was crazy rockers Bob Hund. The day before it was loads of sweeeet soul. I guess vintage soul, jazz (especially T. Monk) and ambient electronica are my most frequent genres to listen to while working.
Jon- good call on Fleet Foxes- I was totally hooked on their album a couple of months back, couldn't stop listening to it back to back like a teenager . Incredible songwriters and fantastic production on that album. Of course I made myself a bit tired of it now. They're reminiscent of one of my favourite bands: psychedelic Edinburgh folksters The Incredible String Band.

I can listen to almost anything and also have jazz, cuban, classical (mostly Mozart) in my favorites, in addition to the standard popular rock, new wave, punk, reggae choices. Even NPR. But if I need to get going, I think I work faster with something familiar like Led Zep or Bob Marley, or Robert Randolph.

70s progressive rock. The more pretentious and overbearing the better.
-
Personally I never left the eighties, my music library is 80% 80's
I think I have almost every song that was ever sung in that era, and have them in permanent shuffle mode. I have noticed as I age I enjoy classical and opera a lot more and cannot understand why.
My one achievement is getting my kids to appreciate groups like Queen, Dire Straits, The Cure, Madness, Bryan Ferry, etc. (My youngest boy once got the Safety dance stuck in his head I'm evil)So my typical work mood is totally erratic I can be modeling/rendering with Paul Potts one minute or Billy Idol the next.

This video shows how we are effected by both sound and movement when properly coerced. Hope you enjoy.
