GhostComp

ooh!
That looks cool.

Very interesting, thanks for the link.
-
brilliant!
can't wait for the plugin to come out. -
this would be great to have for landscape or architectural projects! can't wait for it!
-
D'accord! I agree. Proxy Trees would be great for this!

Oh that is awesome. I've been wishing for a "reference" model function for SU since I started modeling higher poly stuff; I know this isn't exactly a reference-type system, but close enough for me!. I can hardly wait.

Another fantastic addition to the toolset

Great idea [again] ==
If Fredo is lurking... another great addition to this toolset would be a 'proximty' observer setting...
For example you have complex 3D trees - your ghost-components would be simplified face-me ones. With the 'proximity' observer running any trees more that a pre-set distance from the camera are swapped for their simpler ghost. That way only the high-poly trees are used near to the camera and the simpler versions are used far away - these will 'render' just as well at that distance. Another example would be seats in a stadium - only those near the camera need to be complex - those further away can be simple slabs...
Lots of possibilities with this toolset...

This is another stunner from Fredo
Well done

great idea from Fredo (again !!) Altough the extension of the idea by TIG would make it a VERY powerfull tool. In normal workflow there would be no need to keep changing from ghost to real component it would be automatic in function of the camerapoint. I for one would welcome such a tool.

Just watched the video for the first time. Man I hope this one is released soon. Anyone know if the "Ghost" comp is generated automatically by algorithms in the script, or do you have to create it and assign it to the object? Fredo might have mentioned it in the video, but I don't recall.
