        Glenn,

Now that's some impressive speed increase (of course, there areno textures in the model and such but still)

        Brodie;
OK-ok... there are your computer specs but we don't know (just suspect maybe) what SU version you have!

            😲

Does SU run better on Macs? Or is it your RAM? Because... 150 fps... ? Wow...

Here's something odd.....I tried the test on 2 models, one the test model and the other one my roller coaster model. Here's the result.....quite suprising:

              test model
The picture below shows my computer stats...... πŸ˜•

How about the video card and OpenGL hardware support ("acceleration" in Preferences > OpenGL)?

i'm not sure because i've never used windows for comparison.. there was an export test around here a while ago in which the macs were able to export jpgs at more than twice the size as windows but other than that, i haven't seen anything alluding to SU being better with OS X..
in fact, there are often things i see that work on PCs that i can't do.

                      MY CONFIG : macbook pro - mid 2009 unibody 15" 4GbRam 512Mo 9600MGT HD500gb 5400rpm - snow leopard 10.6.1
I ve run the cube test with each graphic configuration on the same machine running sketchup pro 7.0, and results are quite surprising :

                      9400M : 5.336s - 27.4665s (shadows on) -- with SU7.1= 1.228 - 1.229(shadows on)
                      9600M GT : 5.327s - 27,669s (shadows on) --with SU7.1= 1.324 - 1.225(shadows on)

I've run the same test with my architecture diploma file (40000m2 hotel+parking+many cars+trees and textures = 4mb files)

                      9400M : 6.572s - 99.579s (shadows on) --with SU7.1= 4.774 - 5.074(shadows on)
                      9600M GT : 6.601s - 101.156s (shadows on) --with SU7.1= 5.034 -5.225(shadows on)

That confirms my impression, I can't notice any difference between running sketchup with 9400 and with 9600. 😞 What do u think about that ? Could some mac users confirm these results ?

And 7.1pro version is really impressive. 😍

Stats went up after I went into the NVIDIA control panel and changed the 3d settings to 'Let Application Control' or somesuch.

New Imac 27 inch as spec'ed here http://store.apple.com/nz/configure/MB953X/A?mco=MTM3NjczMzI with 8Gb Ram & i7 processor. Running SU 7.1 on Snow Leopard.

Shadows on - (47-53*) frames per second
Shadows off - 22 frames per second**

compared to old G5 PPC Dual 2.3Ghz, with 2.5Gb RAM NVidia GeForce 6600 GPU

Shadows on - 30 frames per second
Shadows off - 14.6 frames per second

and 1st gen Macbook Pro - (ATI Radeon X1600 2Ghz Intel Core Duo, 2Gb Ram Leopard, SU 7.1)

Shadows on - 27.3 frames per second
Shadows off - 9.2 frames per second

Pretty impressive improvement I guess, but can't help wondering what the Mac Pro might be capable of... No software/OpenGL issues yet to report but will post back if I find any....

*Is SU caching something here? Upon repeated testing I'm getting different results (shadows on = same as shadows off & frame rate increases to 53), even after closing SU and reopening Test file... Am I missing something here?

**The results on the Imac back up Jopperman's results with similarly spec'ed Graphics card (512Mb difference on GPU) and RAM but on a different operating system and other hardware specifically CPU...

For reference I just tested my Asus Eeepc running XP and SU7.1.

The test shows it is pretty slow but it all works if you want something portable..

                                            http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s296/storeben/SU/Test.jpg

I've opened two very high poly models, and they certainly orbit and zoom quite happily, I imagine any work on them would take forever though.
