From what i've seen so far its pretty useful for simply finding out about things your interested in.

Basically i only get message form design people, as they talk about stuff i find interesting. I imagine you can do the same for pretty much any subject area that is of interest.

Yup on this side of the pond it's pretty fashionable to be a 'TWIT' πŸ˜„ , I could'nt be bothered, I don't even like cellphones.

Do you remember when it was still possible to be completely incommunicado without much effort? Ahhh, those were the days!

I have no objections to cell phones, Twitter and such (though I have neither), but I do see an alarming trend: these days people seem genuinely offended when they haven't been able to contact you. "Your phone was switched off!"

              QED: I am getting old.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark allies, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

Not a twit nor a Facebook user either. I actually have a "friend" (used to be my best friend) who basically disowned me because I won't use Facebook. Oh well, his loss.
I do rely on my cell however.

Boo, thats very weird indeed. facebook, twitter et al are good, certainly no substitute for good old fashioned face to face talking though.

A month-long poll conducted on business social network LinkedIn has uncovered some fascinating numbers concerning social media platforms and brand presence. The biggest surprise was that Twitter was deemed more important to brands than LinkedIn, and the poll was performed on LinkedIn.

Gtalk and Skype are my limit, for people I need to actually contact from time to time. I can't be bothered with Facebook, Linkedin, or any of that other stuff which would seem to expand your contacts exponentially.
