i did that... hope that it is fixed

Now this is definitely a question of the segmentation of curves. With more segments, your design would be much more "smooth" and similar to that of the image.
I saw you post your question in the ruby forum (hope someone will answer - I don't have that plugin currently installed). What exactly did you try to achieve with it?
-
well I wanted to make a school-boy smilie, that would fit in to the context that I need to fill... well I went with the school logo but I don't know how to make it smoother... I heard of CAD importing, but I don't know how...
-
i guess that I need to import a dwg image... but how to I make a jpg file a dwg one??
-
You can either use software that "converts" raster images to vector images (Google some and find out which suites you) or use curves (arcs, beziers etc.) with higher line segments than what you are currently using when tracing around your image.

wintopo free did this quickly - you'll see it's all 'steppy' because of the raster pixels becoming lines... You could quickly redraw over it to improve it before importing to SUp...DWG inside zip fileSKP with DWG imported
-
great... it looks great from far... but up close you can see the "steppyness"... I am on a mac... can't find a program that can open dwg files... can some1 tell me if there is a free 1??

A Mac limits you a bit, but try this site http://www.lemkesoft.com/lemkesoft.html
If you are on a budget this site has 'free' shareware ($30/35 each) (I think with unlimited use - it's up to you to be honest) for 2d-CAD and Image manipulation - including GraphicConverter which can change virtually any raster-image into many other raster-formats and also vectorize them too... I think that CADintosh only exports as DXF [that can be used in SUp], but it can import other file formats that you can first vectorize from raster-images with GraphicConverter [like HPGL and PICT]... If you have a DWG you can always import a DWG into SUp, and if the 2d drawing is too intense with that then export it as JPG or DXF into GCon' or CADin' etc... -
well I have downloaded the GraphicConverter but don't know how to change it to be able to change in SU...
-
No problem... I have corrected it in SU... it turned out great!!!
-
well here is the picture I have made:

Open the PNG file in GraphicConverter.
Make/convert it into a vector format - like HPGL ?
Import that format file into CADintosh and edit it as desired.
Then export its as a DXF file which can be imported into SUp as geometry... -

one more thing... I am using podium and I set the reflection to 10 but I did not like it... now I cant set it to 0... why???
-
make sure youve only got faces selected when your setting reflection (or light). Podium doesnt like it if you try and give reflection to groups.
-
Now those birds do really look fine (to me at least).
So is it your school's logo? -
TY... Well last week I got an F for not doing my homework at the art class... And now I am trying to get it to vanish ... That is why I will probably soon make something new and ask you how to make it better ... And If you have some ideas plz tell
BTW: I fixed the problem with Podium
-
That's a fine endeavour. Just come up with the ideas and we'll do the best giving advice.

well as I have sad at first I wanted to use smilies to reefer to some quotes but soon I found out that I am no good for making them... So I have just started to make the bird in 3D to use it as a smilie... but I find it difficult because I am not an expert in making curved faces and most of all birds... Any advice??
-
Now after 3 hours I found out that I don't really know how to do this. Did anyone try something like this once?? Does anyone have some advice??
