I heard its a good plugin anyone know how I would get it? I want to make my meshes more smoother as they are blocky looking.

you can get it here :http://www.smustard.com/script/SubdivideAndSmooth but its not free and maybe you just need to try the built in smoothing in SketchUp?

Subdivide and smooth is not really for smoothing its more for modeling smooth (organic) things. depends what your trying to do i guess.

I hear so many people talking about it and I really want to get into designing cars in sketchup I love what people have done already. ALSO my gundam work doesn't feel like it as smooth as it could be or should be.

Actually, smoothing existing models is one of the primary functions of the plugin. For example, you can create a faceted tube and then smooth it with the plugin. Don't confuse the plugin with 'edge softening' or 'normal smoothing' which can already be done inside SketchUp.

xrok1 is right that the plugin is great for modelling organic things.

so if I were to use this plugin my models would seem "rounder" around the edges. Say I make a blocky sphere and I use this plugin would it make it seem more natural instead of blocky? If it does then I'm sold.

all rite seems fair enough I can safely say I need this program so I guess I can part with $22 but it seems quite allot for a plugin anyhow I guess I'm not THAT cheap LOL. Does this work in sketchup 7?

$22 for a plugin that will change your SU experiance and with a little practice will open up the world of organic modeling, me thinks that's a steal.

Yes it does work with SU7

OK I found a sub division demo but I have problems now Heres the link to the demo http://www.smustard.com/script/Subdivide

Now heres my problems and I want to know if this is like this in the final version.

                        heres the original

                        http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/Troopermanaic/1-2.jpg

                        heres when I subdivide

                        http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/Troopermanaic/2-1.jpg

heres a closeup to the problem

                        http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee18/Troopermanaic/3.jpg

This wont do this in the final version will it? I do want subdivisions in my model though I at least want to keep the basic shape.

You have the wrong subdivide ruby there, the one you want is Whaat's 'Subdivide and SMOOTH'

yes I know though I thought that the subdivide would be the same thing in subdivide and smooth unless its not. I just wanna make sure I'm not wasting money =]
I'm afraid that the subdivide will end up moving the corners on the model and if it messes with the corners that would mess up the whole shape.

Although similar, that script is a lot less polished than whaats version.

With whaats version, when you select a face to subdivide it subdivides all the connected geometry. And to answer your question, no you shouldnt get geometry like that.

                              beat me to it solo.

                              and blah...

With whaats version you can 'crease' edges and vertices, this essentially locks them in place and subdivides geometry around them, so you can make sure bits of your model stay put when you need them to.

I am working in Sub Smoove and One thing I have always wondered is . . .is it possible to select multiple edges of the proxy for creasing or is it always necessary to do it one at a time?

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy

David, theres a 'crease selection' option in the SDS tool menu, i think it gives you the option to do edges, vertices or both.
