[Plugin] Selection Toys
-
Maybe I'm using it wrong Thomas. I've tried selecting a component which I know has more than one instance. Then I click on the tool with the two green boxes. Nothing changes. I've tried getting the tool first and then clicking on a component. Nothing different there, either. I'll send you an example model though.

That button is to filter the selection.
To select similar instances, use the context menu.

Thanks Thomas.

I get no error message, but the context menu doesn't seem to do anything for me. I'll check the console next time I try.

Can you describe more specifically the steps you are doing? And what you have pre-selected etc?

In the model, I have 420 instances of a single component.
I select one of the instances, and right click.
Under the "Instances" context menu, I choose "Select All".
What I want to happen, is that all 420 instances of this component to be selected. In my case, nothing happens. Nothing posts to the console. Am I trying to use it correctly?

Can you post or send me a sample model?
-
Really useful stuff!
TT, Thank you so much!

Here's a sample model. I can't get the selection toys plugin to select all the instances of either component. I'm pretty sure that there is something simple about operating this plugin that i'm missing.

I tried both
Instance -> Select Active
andInstances -> Select All
and both of them worked... -
(Okay, so this was when I got stumped for losing my toys.)
Now I am fine and I also tried and can select all or active instances with no issues.
-
Strange. I wonder if I have an obscure conflict with other plugins that doesn't result in an error message, but which prevents selection toys from operating normally. Is such a thing possible?
I'll scrub through my plugins and see if it works when it's the only plugin installed.

It would be very odd.
And you are sure you have the latest version..?

I don't know what happened, a few days ago everything was fine, but this mornig I opened Sketchup and I got this message"
"Error Loading File tt_selection_toys.rb
no such file to load -- TT_Lib/ui_manager.rb"
I have the latest updates for TT_LIB2 and TT_SELECTION_TOYS .I can't see a file called ui_manager.rb anywhere.
Has anyone an idea about what's going on? -
TT_Lib2 does not replace TT_Lib version 1.
For Selection Toys you need to have TT_Lib linked in this thread original post.Version 2 is not backwards compatible with version 1.

Thank you thomthom, this solved my problem.

I love the concept and potential usefulness, but I have a slight issue: I can't seem to get it to work (specs on the sidebar). I haven't messed with any of the files or their locations within the folders - I simply unzipped the files provided and then drag & dropped the folders "TT_Lib" and "tt_selection_toys" into "Macintosh HD>Library>Application Support>Google SketchUp 8>SketchUp>plugins".
I don't get an error message when I launch, though.
I also tried copying the same folders to the SketchUp 7 equivalent of the plugins folder ("Macintosh HD>Library>Application Support>Google SketchUp 7>SketchUp>plugins"). Same result - no "Selection Toys" shows up under the Tools drop-down menu, but no error message appears, either. That folder only contains the standard plugins from Google (Ocean, Examples, and Utilities) so it's not an issue of plugin interference, either.
I've no idea what else I should try doing but would really like to use this; thanks in advance, both for the advice and the (massive) coding.

When OSX unpacks a zip files it always unpacks them into folders that has the same name of the zip. DO NOT move these folders into your plugins folder. Move the CONTENT of these folders into the plugins folder.
You should have in your plugins folder a file tt_selection_toys.rb and a folder TT_Select_Toys. You should also have a TT_Lib folder which contains a set of .rb files and some more stuff.
