There's a couple of things that bugs me.

One thing is that the Material window pops up every time I activate the paint bucket. I find that I often paint some surfaces, pan/scroll move or scale, then paint with the same material. As long as I'm painting with the same material I don't need the Material window open. Is there any way to deactivate this behaviour?

The other thing is that I often end up with heavily textured models which I've staged for V-Ray rendering. In order to improve the modeling handling, I turn of the textures in the SU view. However, on some occasions SU takes it on it self to turn the textures back on again. For instance when you import 3D geomtry into the model. (something I often do towards the end to import vegetation / transportations etc...) Again I'd like to know if I can tell SU to not automatically turn on textures.

I know exactly what you mean with the paint bucket window. It was a smart idea of the programmers - but it simply doesn't work out well in practical use.

the same with textured view. it does make sense to automatically show an imported element with it's textures to make clear that there are materials applied to it. but in some cases it simply us a bit annoying.

therefore I really like the title of this thread πŸ‘

I've noticed that too. It is basically slightly less annoying than Clippy popping up and and proclaiming "It looks like you are trying to apply a Material..." Not sure on the PC, but the Material browser is not even collapsible like the Layers, Scenes, Outliner, etc. I could perhaps live with the focus of the Material browser being brought up if I could at least minimize it to a bar and move it off to the side so further grabbing of the Bucket is not as "in your face".

Annoying yes. Make a keyboard shortcut to close the material browser.

So there isn't any way to disable these behaviours? Not even registry hacks?

In which case, I'd like to have this thread moved to the SU Wish List forum.

Just thought - are you always using the button with the circular arrows to apply the update style changes as otherwise when importing it reverts to back to the default ie textured view

Just hit ESC key and material browser closes, but leaves paint bucket or alt for picker (PC)

On PC clicking once on blue materials bar shuts it down to just that blue bar, clicking again opens it back up. Bar can be moved where you want, even off the sketchup window.

Yes, even though I update the style to have no textures or transparency SU still turns them on.

ECS might close the Material Window, but it's still annoying that it pops up in the first place. Wether I have to use the mouse or keyboard to close it, it's an extra step I'd like to skip.
