Amazing! This would be extremely useful for almost ANYONE using sketchup!
My only question is this: Will it work properly on macs? Almost 1/2 of the plugins I've found Don't.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Im right it looks like you can select components and use a Profile builder similar to the "follow me" tool to drag components along a line or path. Imagine how fast one can draw a basic house model if adopting a similar idea here.
Attached is a brick house follow me example.
Utiler: are you saying you dont want this?
-
certainly will Jeff!!! all that needs to be sorted then is dimensioning and text then i can put BIM back in it's box and use it as a door stop.....
-
I know, with these rubys SU is becoming a very very powerful tool.
-
Hello!
i cant believe it! where can i get it? for weeks now i had to create dozens of profiles in my project, which is really a pain with curved extrution paths. and there are still lots of profiles i need to create. i wish i would have checked out this forum earlier... -
Its not out yet, although you should be able to pick it up from smustard when its released: http://www.smustard.com/scripts/
-
Dale,
Your proposed script looks REALLY promising.
...
In case you hadn't already thought of it, could you please ensure that any guidelines drawn represent a profiles ORIGIN point eg Centre, Centre (if thats how a user has drawn a particular profile).
...
See attached for explanation
...
This is particularly important for Structural Steelwork Drawings.
...
Thanks once again for what looks like another one of your fantastic scripts.
...

so any word on time frame for release???? My wife is looking for ideas for a Christmas present for me!
-
My wife also...
-
I am not sure though, if your wives approve with getting you something as a christmas present, that will keep you in front of the computer for hours/days...

As shown in the video, my best estimate is sometime between Jan-Mar 2009. Sorry, releasing before Christmas is highly unlikely.
-
well. . .I will have visions of Profiler Builder dance in my head on christmas Eve and wait for early 09--I had forgotten it was in the video - --Maybe The easter bunny can bring it.

Hmmm! Chocolate coated!

Dale,
With Profile Builder, will it be possible to utilise profiles that have already been created as *.dwg or *.dxf files without having to first import them into SU and then saving them as a *.skp files ???
.........
Like many users, we use both AutoCad and SU and have lots of such profiles / blocks already drawn as *.dwg files.
..........
This ability would be extremely useful.
(top of my wish list if its not yet possible)
...........
Regards
Howard L'PS Good news about the profile origin (earlier post) - I knew you would have already considered it.
-
Oh yes, look at this post in the components forum; imagine that all these profiles could be finely used!
