While we are on the subject, how about orthographic rendering. KT does, but not sure about others. Along the same lines, any rendering apps play well with sections. Using KT I have to physically slice the model. But then shadows and lighting are based on cut model. What I'd like for example is the ability to do in room lighting of interior plan. (Backed on textures in SU would accomplish this.

Podium can also match camera positions. See this little "animation" Pete (solo) presented in 3d BaseCamp.

some nice images Solo produced there. his model skills are truely intimidating. πŸ˜„

            concerning the section cuts...
I know that Maxwell supports clipping cut planes - you define a minimum distance and a maximum distance from the camera; and everything beyond these borders is not shown in the render.

surely one could implement an automatic link of section planes in SketchUp to this clipping function in indigo. however, then the question would arrise how maxwell is supposed to behave when encountering multiple section cuts.

for whaat to implement it into SkIndigo it first needs to be incorporated in Indigo it self, I am afraid. or does anyone know, if there is already a similar function?

It seems that section planes are now supported by Kerkythea (more exactly by Tomasz' SU2KT plugin) as demonstrated in this post (the second image).

As I heard, displacement map is likely to be a future feature as well - then I guess I'll stick to Kerky. Great program and has a great and helpful community.

As far as I know, none of the known render applications supports SU section planes... 😞

Then how did he make that section plane?

You can do this in both apps manually.

On the frontpage of the Getting Started - KT2008 Echo tutorial, you can see an image made using a KT render and a direct SU export merged together... πŸ˜‰

As you may know, the scenes you create in SU will get exported as camera positions in KT...
So if you export a 2D graphic from SU and you render the same scene in KT, you'll get identical images, which you can merge in a post pro... πŸ˜‰

what if i want to change the dimensions?

mmm...i think the best way is to crop the final image.
