I have not put anything up in a while so here is a set of vases I saw on the Contemporist this morning and thought I would have a go at it. The dimensions are a bit smaller than the actual as I did it all by eye before looking for dimensions 😲

      Anyway, here you go.

Nice Eric. Clean and compelling. The colors really jump out in a good way.

            Very cleverly modelled.

To make it more flexible you could have used one component. Giving the main body a 'grey' colour - changeable globally later in a compo edit - and make the inside in the <default> material. That way you could model one, then place and rotate to suit to make the assembly. and then paint each one the colour you want - then only the inside faces would change to the new colour...

It's very nice though as it is...

                  Thanks all. πŸ˜„

TIG, I know about that feature but use it so rarely that sometimes I forget I can do that. I pretty much use it for cars in parking lots and that is it.
Thanks for reminding me again. πŸ˜‰

My first thought was Animusic when I saw your render Bruce.

                      Dear Eric,

The modelling of the vase would make a good subject for a tutorial (we need more of these). I for one would like to see a step by step explanation of the modelling techniques.

Did you use copy (inside component edit), followed by paste in place (outside component edit), followed by scale to give the vase thickness?

                      Regards,
                      Bob

Thanks watkins. I don't have much time for a tutorial right now, maybe sometime this weekend.

I can tell you that I made the outside shape then used the Joint Push Pull Ruby to create the inside shape. I did a little clean up on the corners afterwards so there were not so many triangulated faces.

I could have very well copied the shape and scaled it down by a fraction then connected the top but the proportions would not be quite accurate.

                        Hope this helps.

                          Dear Eric,

Look forward to your tut. I haven't downloaded joint push-pull yet. I am still finding new ways to use existing tools.

                          Regards,
                          Bob

Thanks again all. Bob, it looks like I might not get to a tut for a while 😞

What is really bizarre... I had never seen this vase or any such like them before I saw them online last week. This past weekend I was furniture shopping and guess what I see displayed in many of the entertainment centers and curio cabinets in one of the stores I visited... you guessed it, Piso Vases... weird. πŸ˜•

True but I had never been in this store before and the vase was a new addition to the website I visited... I truly don't think I ever saw it before, but I could be wrong.

It's definately going in my 'Favourites' folder.
