i was looking for transparent clear material (perspex / acrylic) with none of the standard green or grey tint. They will not let me change colour in the material editor. Anybody know how to solve this conundrum?

Also how do u all make polished stainless steel look abit like s/s??

you need to make sure youve applied the amterial to a surface before you try and change it, if youve already done that, then im not sure what could eb causing the problem πŸ˜’

As remus said, you've got to

          a. apply the material you want
          b. click edit on the Material window
          c. change the opacity.

I use perspex all the time in my drawings, and either use Transluscent glass blue or grey with opacity down to between 5 and 15 depending on the thickness of Perspex (acrylic) used.

          Hope this helps.

            It's been said...

You can't edit the SUp base materials in the browser.
BUT you CAN edit the model's materials (see 'little house' button in browser).
IF you have made a material in a model that you want to be accessible to any future models - via the 'base set' - then do a "Save_As" of this new material (in the model's material browser window select it and right-click to get a context menu...). Put it with only similar materials in your Materials folder structure... New models get access to it...
