OK, OK.... keep it clean, I can think of plenty of nocternal activities to do with my husband...
So what OTHER ideas are out there?

Food. Heart shaped food.

As many times as I've given flowers, I've only received them once...and I will never forget my pleased surprise. (BTW...you can tell it's appropriate if he's the type to stop at the flower shop to pick the mix himself when he gives them, rather than just calling it in :`)

I have no issue with carrying flowers if I buy them for my girlfriend, I've never really understood why some men would feel daft carrying a plant.

Hey Tianne,
Have someone mow his lawn....LOL -
A selection of fine imported beers.(Drinking them together will be really romantic).
-
LOL Ross, a smart choice.

Something whimsical, i reckon, something that he always looks at and thinks 'thatd be cool' but never quite gets around to buying.

Flowers! Definetly flowers. Occasionally my wife buys them for me for no good reason (that's for sure) but V-day is always very special. Igenerally buy her a CD that she would never think of listening to. This year it will be"Funeral" by The Arcade Fire. I replace the cover image with a photo I've taken. Lilly gets the honors this year.

Great idea Ross, however I think this would be a present best enjoyed by him only....

Hard to beat the suggestions already submitted. For me something hand made anything even if it is just a card that you make by hand. Make 14 hand made cards each with a personal gift written on them, like a back rub, a movie, a cup of coffee etc. And then he can redeem the cards with you at his leisure. So some night down the road he might hand you the back rub card after a day of working in the yard and you can feel good giving him something he really needs or some day he may get have the day off and redeem the coffee coupon and you can treat him to a cup of coffee and get your self something as well. The idea is that valentines day is not just about that day but about a long term commitment.
But if that is not something you want you can't go wrong with new socks. All of my good socks have only one and the matching pairs seem to always have holes in the toes. But I'm too lazy to go to the store just for socks.
