Never mind, Irsuser, Keans tuts beat everyone... πŸ˜„

Fantastically clear and concise tutorial as always, Jean

I also like the elements of suspense, with me asking in my mind "why in all world is he doing THAT", and with the reason revealed in the next paces...

              Hi Jean!

Thanks for the tut! This really helped me!
As appreciation, the chandelier (and a couple other furniture items) from my current project are here for everyone to d/l and use
              http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/sas/Components/ThanksToJean.skp

I was able to use Jean's model itself to create that chandelier component. To an extent the component is 'adjustable'..πŸ˜„. Soon it will be incorporated in a rendering...should get back to work now

              Thanks a ton!!

I agree. I'd open Jean's tutorials just for the thrill even if I couldn't imagine using the technique.

                  Hi Irsuser,

Why not upload it in the components forum then? πŸ˜„

BTW - there is still a "ring" in the horn to soften... πŸ˜’

On the other hand, Jeans tut (i.e. the "outcome") is a bit low poly for rendering - make sure this is not going to be the "main part" of it. It's OK for a (little) background thing but renders will reveal low poly modelling from real close-ups.

                  Gai...

ok...left a note in components section as well

that ring is intentional (metal to glass transition). see pic.
yeah it is in a bigger dining hall space...not the main element in model. Thanks for the tip though!

Looks great - thanks for the "update". Would it be possible that the last segment is lit with a kind of transition instead of this sharp drop in the light?

(OK I know it's not the renders gallery... πŸ˜† )

                      Gai...

                        Hi,

A bit late after that good looking render but I experimented with another route to a high-poly version. Inspired by monsterzero's approach but not with his expertise.

                        A quick tutorial version
