Hello, I'm new to the forums here and I'm wondering how do I make a spoon. I'm also a newbie at sketchup. (well not so much) πŸ˜„

😞 Someone help please? 😧 I can't seem to find it anywhere on the web. I can get the models from the warehouse, but I want to know how they did it rather then use what they did.

Sorry you have not gotten any replies so far. Most of the Moderators are busy moving content to the new board.

A spoon can be a complicated shape therefore a complicated explanation as well. My suggestion is that you look over the video tutorials and get familiar with the way SU works.
Here are the tut's provided by GSU:
          http://sketchup.google.com/vtutorials.html

Look over the SU5 tut's first. #18 covers some of the sandbox tools which might help with your spoon.

Get a start and post your progress, then others will have something tangible to help you with.

          Cheers.

            Hi Poke,
Your post got me thinking about how it might be done so I tried to make a spoon.

            http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/sas/Newbie/spoonexperiment.jpg

It didn't come out very good. I design and plan furniture so that this sort of thing is way outside my comfort zone. I used the soap skin ruby and the follow me tool and the intersect tool and a bunch of others. All in all this took me about 20 minutes.
I'm sure someone out there will come up with a simple and ellegent solution to modeling spoons and the like.

If you don't know where you're going, you're never going to get there.

                              Hello,
Sorry to bother you with this question again but I find no active tuto on this forum to model the hollow part of a table spoon (with tool sandbox for example?).
                              Thank you for your help!

Draw a sphere and use the scale tool to elongate it on one side(horizontal), then intersect the sphere with a plane placed on the horizontal direction. Place the plane as high as you would like the spoon to be, then intersect both and delete the unwanted geometry.
