      Guitar Body.skp

I recently purchased a license for FredoCorner (which is the successor to RoundCorner, if I'm not mistaken?) but have found that it fails completely on everything I want to use it for, while RoundCorner works.

See the attached SKP file - it's a simple guitar body that I want to bevel the edge of. FredoCorner fails in assorted ways when I select the top face - sometimes saying "INVALID - No good edges at Face", and sometimes saying "An error occurred in the ruby code" (or something to that effect).

RoundCorner, on the other hand, has no problem with it.

I'm on the latest SketchUp 2026, with the latest versions of libfredo6 (15.6a) and FredoCorner (2.7a)

      Thanks!

I would think there is a few issues here that are mesh related.

        • Edge density is at ~650 edges which very high.
        • The boundary has tons of edges in areas that are really not needed

My approaching to fixing things would be to use Curvizard. Cleanup and resample the curve to re-create the shape with a more manageable edge count. Without affecting the silhouette.

You could go from ~650 edges to <300 quite comfortably.

If you overlap the profiles you can see no benefit from the excessive edge count.

You can then run Fredo Corner:

I would guess the reason RoundCorner 'works' is because Fredo Corner has parametric abilities to restore or edit bevel post-op. If the input is troublesome then Fredo Corner is saying 'I can't do this because the computation and parametric abilities are not suited to geometry'.

FWIW, Fredo has acknowledged that FredoCorner is not an exact replacement for Round Corner although they generally do the same sort of things. There are some cases in which one works and the other doesn't. I've found it imprtant to have both extensions.

It's a little confusing with the two corner plugins, but I get it now -- Curvizard is great! Thanks for the suggestion; I'm going to go simplify a bunch of my old models now 😄
