Basic Saving skp with Animator

Is there a correct way to save as with Animator files
I zip the skp and animator file at the moment as i learned the hard way, just saving the skp file with a rev keeps them all linked to the same animator file and they are all impacted
I cant see i where to point the correct an fileLikewise if you want to use the model without affecting animation ie a clean version not linked to ani file (i have to break components to get some of ani to work and make them unique)
Ive tried purging all clips then i have lost ani in orig version

Animation data is saved into the .skp file. Originally animation was stored in .animator file along with the .skp file but that was changed.
So if you have a file01.skp with animation data and then save it is as file-02.skp it will still have the animation data.
This is the case for SketchUp 2023 and above as those are the only versions I have.

All animation data are saved within the model. The .animator file is just a backup of these data.

No problem, Animator is a complex tool and sometimes troublesome files offer you a better path to understanding how to use it.
I often refer to the Fredo Collection > Animator > Video menu to find the expected use case for the available tools.
