Can't close/differenciate faces

There is probably a simple answer to this, but why can I sometimes not select these faces independently? In this example the face has been closed but is still connected to face outside the bounding edges? What am I missing? Thanks in advance! Seth

Hard to say from the video. The heavier edges show that it is not merged.
If you Select All right click and choose...
...does it join the geometry
Fredo Tools > Edge Inspector has an option to fix such issues.

Thanks for the response, Rich...and sorry for the slow reply. I didn't get a notification that there had been a response posted. So I tried select all and tried to intersect faces with selection but it didn't seem to change anything, including the heavier edges.

Any other ideas on what I may be doing wrong or missing here? This is pretty frustrating because this is a new issues that has popped up so I assume I am missing something obvious...
