SketchUp does not Connect to the Internet
-
Good Day
I have recently had to reinstall SketchUp 2018 after Windows was corrupted by a power outage.
I ahve installed it onto "F"SketchUp 2018, same drive as it was installed on previously.
When I try to enter the license details the program states "Not Connected to the Internet"
I have checked the firewall settings and SketchUp has full permission for both in and out traffic.
Should the program be installed on "C" drive? or is there another reason for this.
Thanks in advance for for the help.

Did you run the installer as an Admin?

a known problem with the SU online check of SU v2017/2018 & 2019.0/.1/.2 using a in the meanwhile broken URL from Google sigh
For fixing the issue in connection with SU v2018 under Windows open the following text file (ASCII)
C;\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2018\resources\de\i18n.dat
with a text editor as e.g. the Windows editor (notepad.exe) but not a text processor and search for
[ONLINE CHECK] ONLINE_TEST_URL=http://www.google.com/ncr
or
[ONLINE CHECK] ONLINE_TEST_URL=http://www.bing.com
and replace by e.g.
ONLINE_TEST_URL=https://www.sketchup.com/
Be aware, that changing files in the Windows program directories requires admin rights, therefore either launch the used text editor by "Right Cklick > Run as Admin" or copy the file to the Windows desktop, change it and copy back by overwriting the existent file.
Under macOS the file is located in the hidden folder (replace # by year of SU version)
/Applications/SketchUp 201#/SketchUp.app/Contents/Resources/Content/Resources/de/i18n.dat
Use the "Go To" command of the Finder for getting into that folder.

Thank you so very much.
Edited the file as you suggested and everything works perfectly now.
Much appreciated
