It works fine in v2018 and in v2019.
It's already fully signed and compatible with all current SketchUp versions.
A few posts back [at the end of 2017] I posted to say v5.0 was now compatible with v2018 !
I just hadn't updated details on its main page...
      Now done.

If you get the latest version of 'Roof' from the PluginStore, then it should be fully signed and compatible for all current SketchUp versions...

Where did your problem version come from ?

Notwithstanding that - in reality the 'validity' of the extension's signature [or it even being 'unsigned'] doesn't matter very much.

If you have download an extension's RBZ from a trusted source [like EWH, SketchUcation, or a well known developer's web-site], then that RBZ might be somewhat old and therefore it's not been re-signed for some newer versions of SketchUp, BUT it is very probable that it will still work in those newer versions.

It's a PITA to get everything recompiled into an RBZ, and submit it to SketchUp's portal to get the latest signature added, then republish it: older extensions that haven't needed updating to suit changes in the newer SketchUp's Ruby API, will often have out of date signatures, or might even be 'unsigned'.
With 'free' extensions it's unreasonable to expect authors to re-sign everything, at every update...

The global fix is easy - to allow you to load and use these older plugins and extensions... simply set your SketchUp > Window > Extension Manager > Loading Policy to be 'Unrestricted'.
After you restart SketchUp and previously 'blocked' extensions will be loaded and be available for use...

            It's great plugin. Thanks!
But... is there a chance for a Gambrel option?
Will be glad for any info!

It's an old Plugin, unlikely to have any major changes...

There's already a 'Mansard' option - this allows you two roof pitches per slope - to make a Mansard or Sprocketed roof form.

If you want your own kind of 'Gambrel' roof [which I think is called a 'Mansard' roof in many other locales], then you can edit a simpler roof form - and manually add/erase the necessary changes ?

What am I missing?? I've installed V5.0 and still can't get hipped roof to work in either 2018 or 2019 on my MacBook Pro. I've followed your Help instructions, but nothing seems to work. I can generate gable end and pyramids, but no hips or mansards. HELP!!

Have you run it with the Ruby Console open to see if there are any error messages ?

The face you use to make the outline of the hipped roof cannot be at z=0...

Draw a shape on the ground [z=0], then extrude it upwards using PushPull.
Now select just the top face of the geometry and run the Hipped Roof tool...
                  Any luck ?

When I ran it with the Ruby Console open, there were no error messages and the Plugin worked just fine in both 2018 and 2019. Some kind of long-distance sorcery from you, no doubt. Thanks.

                      For me, it doesnt work.

When I run the program, it exits or closes.

                        Please explain more details.
Is this problem in v2017 ?
If you run it with the Ruby Console open are there any error messages ?
There are several tools with the 'Roof' set: which one is causing the problem ?
When you say 'it exits' do you mean it just doesn't do any thing, or that SketchUp itself closes ?
No error messages at all ??

Are you using the tool as the usage notes explain ?
e.g. the flat face forming the outline for the hipped roof tool cannot be at z=0, and it is possible to devise a face that cannot accept a hipped roof - but then an error message should tell you that...

I have downloaded this roof tool but I am having a hard time using it. I watched videos. I use sketchup with dynascape. I import 2D drawings into skethchup and replace with components. When I use the select face roof tools, like hipped or gabled roofs, nothing happens. Only the color of the face changes but stays flat. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Is there somewhere that I can obtain more info on how to use this tool? I thought maybe these roofs are too complex for the tool, so I created a box and tried to put a roof on it and the same thing happens. Please Help! It looks like it can be an amazing tool if I could just get it to work.

It is an old toolset... but it should work.
Use it with the Ruby Console open...
                            A few pointers...
The face for a hipped roof must be flat and NOT at z=0.
There should be prompts on the status-bar and dialogs that ask for inputs...
Report any errors from the Ruby Console...

Please forgive me, I am fairly new to sketchup. I know that is a ruby file but what does " use it with ruby console open" mean?

It's a little box screen that display in text mode in real time all that is working on the screen of Sketchup!

If there is an error that is displayed and like this that help a lot for debbugging! 😄

Upgraded to the 2018 version. In doing so, i lost my two extentions, Tig Roof and Dashed Lines. Tried to install Tig Roof from Plugin in store. I get this error message. "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please insstall an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Setting Page." Anyone have experience this situation?

At last after a private email exchange we get the issue revealed !

This is nothing to do with SketchUcation.com or its RBZ downloads...

When you download anything from the Internet your browser will having certain settings to determine what happens to that downloaded file.
These are set up for each file-type...
So your 'options' will vary depending on your Internet browser's settings, and then the file-type.
I suggest you edit your browser's options and ensure that RBZ file types are always prompted for a saved-file destination - usually your Downloads folder - but you could even avoid the 'save' prompt and always save them into Downloads ?
Otherwise your browser settings can assume you want to open the file immediately, hence the prompt to choose an app.
But you cannot open an RBZ file in an app.
You must download it, then install it from within SketchUp itself...

                                        What's your internet-browser ?
With that info we can advice you more specifically on the required setup for downloading/saving RBZ files, in your settings/options...

I repeat the process from my recent private email exchange...

                                        @unknownuser said:

Here's how to get it [installed], step by step...
Download its RBZ file from the PluginStore.
Save it somewhere sensible - like your Downloads folder...
[see earlier about your browser's settings prompting for 'save' rather than 'open']
                                        ...
In SketchUp open the Extension Manager dialog from the Window menu item.
Click the bottom-left red-button 'Install Extension'.
                                        Find and open the RBZ.
SketchUp then installs it for you...

PS: I've also merged this into the main 'Roof' thread, where it belongs...
