Twilight - Invisible but cast shadow?
-
Does anyone know of a way to render a material so that it is absolutely clear but still casts a shadow? I am trying to do a light study of a whole house in a dollhouse view (looking down with roof and ceilings removed) so that I can see the light only from windows and doors. But, of course, all the light pours in from the missing roof. I need someway to block the light that the roof would, but not obscure my view of the interior. I'd like to use high quality renderers.

How about using a section plane.

Use this.TransparentDummy.skm

This works great in SU, but Twilight does not render the shadow. Thanks, though.

Have you tried adjusting the equivalent Twilight Material ?

Possibly render with the 'Sun' off. And use emitters in the doors and windows. (In Twilight anyway).

The way the material works in SketchUp is that its texture is a 100% transparent PNG texture, but the material is set to be 100% opaque: that way you can see through it but it casts a shadow.
The equivalent Twilight material that gets substituted needs the same setup... -
I guess I'm still missing something. I've tried with the alpha at 0% and 100%, neither produces a shadow in Twilight. The template is "flat", should I start with something else? Advanced pane has Casts Shadows and Blended Clip turned on. Any help appreciated.

Follow the link... it might be of help. Really suggest posting your question on the Twilight Forum. If it's doable Chris or Fletch should know.https://www.twilightrender.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3107#p24290
