Unreal Studio - now supports SU
-
Surprised no one posted this yet here..
Now they have introduced support for unreal studio direct from Sketchup (2018 & 2017) in the form of Datasmith. However it works only with the preview versions of unreal engine 4.20 as of now.
There is a video from Rory Townsend regarding this. I am not sure of he is part of the forum here...

I intend to add any and all video tutorials for unreal engine and datasmith related videos here for everyones reference and benefit.
Justin from SketchupEssentials had released a quick setup video. He intends to release more videos in his RenderingEssentials youtube channel in the future.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Have anyone experience using Unreal studio for archviz?
I've been using Lumion, which is very easy to use, and I was thinking of trying Twinmotion which should be similar. But maybe Unreal it a nice alternative

Seems to be pretty easy to bring in a model with good results.
I did not go further than just bringing the model in, baby steps -

I think it is worth mentioning that this only supports 2017 pro or 2018.

I believe that Twinmotion has the Unreal Engine inside!

Correct as far as I know
And I'm thinking maybe Twinmotion is so much easier for archviz, that it's a good investment? -
I just realized that this might be a good solution for making static meshes in Unreal games.

Explored the possibilities with this today, very surprised to learn no UE support for 3DX devices.
Yes, there is a hack out there by a very smart user........but really a shame no native support. -
