Sketch-Up really slow
-
Dear all,
If this question should be posted somewhere else, I'll be happy to move this threat to that place.
The point is, however, that since the last couple of days my version of sketch up is being incredibly slow. When selecting items, the software used to be very responsive. The last couple of days, all the responsiveness has gone and I have - literally - to wait 3 seconds before Sketch Up responds to the command of selecting an item (such as solar panels in the Skelion Plug Inn).
The curious things are that this used not be the case and that all was well, up to last week. Furthermore, if a co-worker of mine opens the same file there appears to be nothing with it.
I've tried to reinstall the software, but to no avail (as of today at least). Are there any suggestions what have caused this problem and how I can solve it?
Some specs which might be helpful:
- SketchUp Make 2017 User
- Simple meters Template
- Windows 10 Pro
- i5 2,50 GHz processor

Have you turned off hardware acceleration somehow, by mistake?
Is sketchup the only software with issues?

This sounds like a slow down report typical after a Windows update. There have been many such reports and the culprit seems to be a bad update by Microsoft that includes Intel HD graphics driver updates that have problems with OpenGL.
What graphics card do you have in your computer? If you have a real graphics card besides the Intel integrated graphics, make sure it is set to be used by SketchUp. The Windows updates usually set the Intel graphics as the default so you have to reset that.
If you only have the Intel integrated graphics, roll the driver back to an earlier version when it did work. Be aware that the next update from Windows is likely to cause this problem again so you'll have to be vigilant and fix this again from time to time.

I've noticed a bit of an SU slowdown as well, also since last MS forced update. I have to click twice sometimes to activate a tool, or grab an entity.
Same with another 2D graphics app I'm using. I'll click on a tool or a color, and nothing, have to do it twice.

There was recently a windows update that affects every intel processor for the past decade, to fix a major security flaw. In certain situations, you could even see a performance reduction of up to 30%. I'm not sure to what degree that this is affecting SketchUp performance, but I have my suspicions that it's caused a little bit of slowness.
