VRAY render not working

Hmm...thats interesting. I just assumed that since each object would be in a different location it would have to parse each one as if it were unique due to changes in lighting/shadow, reflection etc. So if you had 6 of the same component it would read it as 6 separate instances unless they were all located in the exact same location under the same conditions. I wouldn't think the rendering engine would be object based.

It does need to calculate per instance when rendering - but in terms of pre-processing the geometry it's reusing it.

Hi, I have a similar Problem, I'm quite new to V ray, but here's whats happening; I had the latest version and all my rendering were going fine, but then my laptop crashed and I had to get it formatted, in the process lost all my programs. I re-installed vray but when I tried to render the same model, It just wont work. It renders new models, but my old models just wont render. I also noticed that all my materials have no more layers when before plenty of them had reflection layers. Do i have to re-do the model and apply materials all over again? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

i think (and this is not true for sketchup or vray only, but for most apps) that when you format and resume a pc, or simply move a project from a machine to another, that you should first of all make sure you rebuild the same path for all linked files.
otherwise all the links in your project will be broken.
for example, in your case, is it possible that your project needs you to reinstall the folder/folders containing all the bump, reflect maps, etc.. in order to properly display rendered materials..
so, are you sure when you re-installed your project data you re-create the very same footprint for all of the project folders?

Thanks Marcello, but i figured out the problem,for some reason v ray would not render with lights, as soon as i deleted my lights, it began to render without any problems. I'm not sure why this happened though..

i had same problems most of the times...and as far as i can reason it out

This is due to materials not getting detected in the scene (especially wen u load models from warehouse or other models - other versions )check your scene materials to make sure of it.

Remedies :
Opening a new file with latest version and pasting the model
Reapplying materials solved in certain cases

did you make the light a component? if so that's the problem. there is a bug that crashes vray if you take the vray light group and make it a component.

if you need it to be a component i suggest you group it with some other geometry and then make a component out of this new group. (i find the most reasonable thing to do is group the vray light group with the light/lamp fixture group and then make the light+fixture group a component and it will work nice even if you copy it)

2).  try this: selecting all objects then copy open new file then paste then then render.
3).  Hide some elements & components.

Well, I have the solution and that is very simple :-
~ Explode components in your scene as much as possible while rendering the scene.
Means : If you are modeling or importing 3D objects to sketchup file,make sure that it
should not be in deep. Do not make components under components or Groups under
groups. Upto Level 1 to 2, it is enough but do not go beyond that. It is recommended
to get rid off this BUG..!!!

thank you very much this help to solve my problem of never rendering just like the first question, what happend is that I wad a text and I used the shape bender to fit the text to a curve after that my render never started all night tested, so I explode the letters as you said and thats it it worked!! also the problem of the vray light in group happend to me once, when error while trying to render appers I just purge all vray materials under plug ins /vray/help/debug. its nice to see that some one actually helps giving tips in forums, instead of just asking more questions and no answers, sorry for my bad english.thanks again

having a problem with my Vray. when i try to render my drawing nothing happen only shows render history settings and vray frame buffer. please help it does happen with all my drawings

Hello everybody. This is my first post. Im having the same problem. Ive recently downloaded skp 2017 and vray 3.4 on my new msi laptop. It worked fine for a couple of days but all of a sudden the render wont start. As kilua24 said... it only shows render history settings and the vray frame buffer stays stuck on 0%.
Im quite desperate now.. wont find any answer on the internet. This happens even on an empty new model.

hi every one, I have also problem with rendering my file. It is big file, a tower, I tried to delete objects as much as I can but not much helpful. It so weird sometimes rendering but mostly caused my PC hang and even cannot shut down. mostly I have to press and hold power button to restart computer. I tried copy it and paste in new sketch up file, purge, explode those groups with many components or subgroups but still the same. Since it is for on going project, seriously I need ur help.
