The problem is I need to cut a canopy/hatch into the skin in the approximate area in white. I could do it by each segment and line, but that would take days, but I am willing to do so. The edges also need to be curved and not squared off as shown.

Can anyone suggest a faster way to do this?

    Thanks.

It's probably quicker to rework the area and consider the canopy cutout during the modeling process.

Failing that I'd limit the area to be worked on and copy it to a separate file.

Then I'd use intersect selection with model to do something like this...

Another option is to use Tools > Sandox Tools > Drape...

That is a handy tip, I had almost forgotten the sandbox tool myself. Must give that a go. Sorry for butting in.

Only caveat is that Sandbox can take some time to drape if the entity to drape and the mesh to receive the drape are overly complicated.

But Sandbox is still one of those tools you forget about. Especially the Smoove tool, which is awesome!

            Good ideas. Thanks.

I've also studied more on how to use Tools on Surface and it might also be what I'm looking for.

I'm still open to more suggestions.

The build sequence was done as required by the design. I had to get the general hull shape before I could do anything else. This is an experimental design so there were no plans or dimensions to go by. Once the hull was done, then I could start shaping and fitting everything else inside it, although there was some amount of feedback and design compromises between all the elements.

So I broke down and traced hidden line by hidden line. This is close and only needs a little refinement.

                  Thanks Mike.

I wish could reveal what this is, but I can't. But I will say this is a real world project, but it may be years before it is seen by the public if ever. It's not secret military stuff, just a very speculative venture at this time. It doesn't even have a patent yet so that's one of the biggest reasons I can't show more and believe me, there is already completed stuff on this. I'm just showing what I can.

But I'm really ready to get this done. My hope was by the end of this year, but I won't make it, so I'm going to slow down and say the end of next year and work on some other projects for a change of pace.
