      Happy to announce the release of Ropefall v1.0.0!

      The user outlines the rope quickly using straight lines (polyline) and the program animates it into a relaistic rope by physics simulation.

        Very cool, I have been looking for that.

        Subscription unfortunately, what happens at end of year, it stops working? I do not like renting plugins, wished it was a straight price for version 1.

          Can this plugin just drape the line (not make thickness) if one selects 0mm?

            same here... renting plugins suck. Some plugins are used once a in long while.

                It sure looks like a great plugin with potential... πŸ‘
                Not one I'd use very often like other plugins, but a useful one nevertheless...

                However... Like others already have said, I too do not like these subscription fee plugins... πŸ‘Ž

                Looking forward to see the reply to this...

                I'd definitely also prefer to pay a price for ver. 1 and by the time when the plugin has matured and you've found other useful things to do with it and move on to ver. 2, there should be an upgrade fee - letting those who want to upgrade to decide whether or not they want to upgrade or stick with the last version available they've paid for...

                Cheers

                  Very clever and handy tool, but I haven't and never will buy subscription software.

                    Thank you guys for your feedback!

                    licence:
                    yes we can introduce the perpetual model going forward (infinite licence for a given version). The idea now is to run Ropefall under annual licensing that allows users to grab the latest features anytime while keeping the licence fee very low. As Frederik points out this is important especially in the initial period when the product is quickly expanding. Once it stabilizes we can consider perpetual licensing and an affordable upgrade to it.

                    line-only rope (without tube around):
                    I hear you, will be implemented very soon!

                    Pls follow Ropefall updates on twitter

                    Should you guys have any other comments, feedback, questions - please let us know!
                    Thank you!

                      I agree.

                      a great and intelligent tool for sure πŸ‘ - but certainly not a "everyday tool" for me.
                      So I also would recommend another pricing model...

                        NEVER.
                        Just provide a simple low poly option for a fixed reasonable price and you will have a deal.

                          My pricing model for all my plugins is as follows:

                          7 day free trial
                          permanent license
                          free updates for at least 1 year or until the major version changes - whichever is longer

                              And for every one of us that says 'no way' to a subscription, you can bet your last dollar (and it might be!), that hundreds of potential buyers are just passing you by.....

                                I also notice you are using the Free version of Sketchup which is not for commercial purposes.

                                  Box, thanks for bringing this up. The restrictions in Sketchup Make Licence and the Developer Center Guidelines do not seem to state that one needs a pro licence for selling plugins.

                                    Climbing on the bus with everyone else, don't really like subscription based software. Be a great plugin to have but wouldn't be using it everyday.

                                    Going to gang up with Box. Creating a demo video in SU to help sell your product seems like commercial use to me ?

                                      This seems like something that (at least a good few) people around here would find useful, even if it's only an occasional use, I'm keeping this one in mind should I require functionality such as this. Unfortunate about your licensing model, I'm not biting due to the subscription model...

                                      There are a good few plugins / extensions that I would find useful (or just want), but stay away from due to subscription licensing model.

                                      However, you continue as you see fit, it's your product! We'll continue as we see fit, it's our money...

                                          Well tried it and I have to say that it is pretty cool. πŸ‘

                                          Some first thoughts:
                                          -perhaps you can do it interacting only with objects that are placed in a "context" (I mean a group for example) because now it is almost unusable with high poly models. I assume because it tries to find a possible collision with every face in the model;
                                          -I would like to have smoother curves where the cable is bent;
                                          -now the generated cable has reversed faces;
                                          -perhaps you can add different kind of cables-ropes;
                                          -finally, I don't like that licensing system at all.

                                          @Pete: It seems to work already with "0" thickness btw.

                                            Does it have any stiffness control?
