    Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone could point me to a solution to the dreaded having to install plugins/check toolbar boxes over and over again problem - every time I boot I have to re-install Fredo's Mirror ruby, Vertex Tools, etc. - it's been happening for years, and I know there's been many discussions but are there some definitive things I could troubleshoot? Permissions problem or something? Win 8, SK Pro 2015

    Cheers,

You should not have to reset plugins like this - let alone reinstall them.
The activated-state of an extension and its toolbar [if any] should be remembered across sessions...

Do you really mean reinstalling or just resetting ?

      Let's assume resetting for now...

It suggests to me a 'permissions issue'.
When you installed SketchUp did you do so as the administrator - I suspect not, or at least not fully...

Here are some steps that might help fix this - they certainly can't make it worse !

Ensure that you have your SketchUp 2015 installer.exe to hand - its to be reused later.

      Close all SketchUp windows...

Open Control Panel > Programs and Features and UNINSTALL SketchUp 2015.
Any installed Plugins etc should be left untouched...
When we reinstall you will initially loose settings, like extensions' statuses and toolbars' active-states etc, but once reset they should now be remembered across sessions

When that uninstalling is completed find and select the SketchUp 2015 installer.exe.
You MUST now right-click > context-menu > "Run as Administrator".
This will ensure that the re-installed version of SketchUp avoids some potential permission issues.
Installing an exe by simply running it by double-clicking it, does NOT give the same end result - even if you have full-admin-rights, it can result in a flaky installation with subtle screw-ups - so remember always to use the context-menu method...

Restart SketchUp 2015 and test - see what happens after you make some changes and do another restart...

      Report back...

PS: 'Mirror' is mine, not Fredo's 😉

Thanks for that TIG. Oh my lord I can't remember when I actually d-loaded that plugin - seems an age ago - apologies! Ah weird when I do install Mirror a pop-up appears asking me to install Fredo's library, like when I install that it suddenly allow's Fredo's plugins to work also - arg! Must be some sort of permissions nightmare. I'll re-install when I get some jobs out of the way and report back...
